What Guests Are Saying
Moraine Park Campground in Rocky Mountain National Park offers a beautiful and peaceful camping experience, with stunning views of snow-capped mountains and abundant wildlife like deer and elk. Campers appreciate the clean facilities, friendly staff, and convenient access to hiking trails. While some improvements could be made, such as better bathroom signage and more electrical sites, many visitors express a strong desire to return due to the campground's overall charm and serene ambiance.

RMNP was an awesome experience. Beautiful, colorful, perfect weather, with many sightings of animals around the park. Booking a campsite was a bit of a hassle. Recreation.gov wouldn't allow booking on Oct 12th so my wife and I had to change campsites for one day to an open site. Moraine Park changed to winter season while we were there so the sites went to "first come, first served" and we moved again to a spectacular site for the remainder of our trip. Special thanks to Rangers Caitlyn, Eric, and Jeff for answering all our questions and working with us to get our booking/sites squared away. Friendly and helpful staff with a wealth of knowledge on the park and excellent recommendations.

THIS IS WHAT I WROTE IN THE PUBLIC VIEW SECTION THAT SUMS IT UP WELL ENOUGH! PLEASE, PLEASE FIGURE OUT A BETER WAY TO TRANSITION FORM " RESERVATION ONLY TO FIRST COME FIRST SERVE" BASIS.
The park is beyond beautiful, just go enjoy it all! There are a lot of beautiful campsites in this campground with amazing views. JUST BE AWARE THAT YOU DON'T WANT TO BE AT THE CAMPGROUND ON THE DAY IT TRANSITIONS FROM "RESERVATIONS ONLY" TO "FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS." We were already camping with a reservation in Loop C and did not know until we arrived that it would be one of the loops to close down and we would have no guarantee that we would be able to get a spot in the only Loop (B) that would remain open on the day it changed! On that morning of the change it was just a mess!!! We wasted, with a WHOLE LOT OF OTHER FOLKS that were in the same situation, our entire morning making sure we were able to procure an envelope (that the Rangers wouldn't hand out until noon) and a site! From first daylight to 12:30ish we spent running around trying to make sure we got a site in Loop B, I had to sit like a hawk to swoop in as soon as a site in Loop B was open with my husband standing by with our truck and trailer to move quickly into the spot because there were cars lined up at the entrance of the campground waiting also to get an envelope at noon and start taking the available spots too! THERE HAS TO BE A BETTER SYSTEM THIS THIS!!!! IT WAS SUCH BAD EXPERIENCE ALL AROUND FOR ALL US CAMPERS THAT WERE ALREADY IN THE CAMPGROUND CAMPING AND WANTED TO STAY LONGER AND HAD TO WASTE AN ENTIRE MORNING NAVIGATING THROUGH THIS CHAOS!!

We reserved a site on A loop over the Internet for the last day of reservation. When we entered the park and declared to the Ranger in attendance that we intended to stay two more days, he looked on his computer and gave us a site on B loop since A loop was closing the next day. And told us if we did not like it, we needed to find another site next morning. In fact, we liked the site we got and stayed there until Friday morning, enjoying the quietness of Moraine Park campground and its facilities. Kudos for all Rangers who helped us having a great time (and the weather cooperated too).

Great campsite. Views of elk in the meadow, Longs peak and McHenrys. Quite a hike to the comfort station, however the solitude is worth it.

RNMP is a beautiful place - no doubt. Unfortunately, there are FAR too many two-legged creatures around, especially in their four-wheeled vehicles, to make it enjoyable. We will help alleviate this problem by never going back.

This park is awesome! Love the views and shuttle service is honestly really nice for when you’re camping out of your truck bed. The area around fern lake is burnt out, but honestly with the fall colors and stuff starting to grow back… it’s amazing. Just be ready for 45 minute wait in a line of cars to get into the park (which isn’t something I’ve ever ran into at the Smokies or Shenandoah). The campgrounds were really nice too, everything was spaced out really well and the bathrooms were clean. I just wish they had more of a camp store so you wouldn’t have to go back into town and risk getting stuck in line again to get back into the park.

Limited privacy between camp sites however very convenient access to Trail Ridge Road and Bear Lake Corridor. Also good viewing for elk along Cub Lake trail.

Stay Out of Hydroseeded Areas!Moraine Park Campground has recently been re-seeded after construction! This process, called hydroseeding, applies a combination of local native seed, mulch fiber, and water to disturbed areas, and looks similar to fine straw. Over the next couple of years, this seed will germinate and help restore the local native plant communities we know and love. Please protect these fragile areas by using designated paths and keeping kids and pets out of hydroseeded areas. |
