Site 209 - Goods and bads. The tent pad, firepit and table are over the hill and slightly away from other campers which is nice, and overlook the meadow slightly (trees break up the view). The site for the camper was easy to level, BUT, its right on the road, so your door may open up right on the road. The traffic wasn't too bad though since its one way and just for the C loop. Overall, not bad for a couple nights. Some staff was a little more gruff, but most were super friendly, site was very clean, campground well maintained.

Park staff was friendly and facilities were clean. The campsites are close together but the fire pits are staggered so there’s separation between picnic tables and fire pits. Beautiful views.

The campground is very nice and situated great for all the stuff on the east side of the park. The bathroom was clean and heated and just a short walk from our site, though the lights from the building were distracting at night while around the campfire. The setting was pretty and we heard lots of elk! Just be aware the map is not correct. A117 is not right next to the parking spot. It's a short walk in, maybe 75 ft, which might matter to some people.

The only advantage of this campground is its location: beautiful, right next to the Bear Lake area. Other than that, nothing good. This was the only campground that I cannot say the restrooms were clean. We stayed there for 3 nights and the restrooms were not cleaned at all during this time. No showers are provided. But there is a dumping station.

The positive…being inside Rocky Mountain NP was a beautiful experience! We could view the elk from our campsite and we needed no timed entries so we could move around the park at our own discretion.
Second, having electricity was wonderful!
Third, the vault toilets were well kept.
The negative…the sites are still pretty much designed for tent camping. It didn’t appear that much work (if any) had been done during the shut down for renovation on the actual sites. The picnic tables were still very old. We had standing water in the drive outside our Rv during/after rain. Many sites are not large enough for an rv and those that are large enough are likely to have tent sites very close to the rv. Rv’ers should be very careful to select a site that can actually accommodate their rv. Ours is 29’ and only a few sites would accommodate us. There is only one dump station.
Outcome….Would we do it again? Absolutely because being inside the park was an unforgettable experience!!!

Timed Entry Reservations: For visitors who are camping at Moraine Park Campground, your Timed Entry + Bear Lake Road Reservation is included with your camping reservation.Campers will be able to enter the park beginning at 1 p.m. on the first day of their camping reservation, which is also the check-in time for all RMNP campgrounds. Campers who plan to enter the park earlier in the day will have to enter the park outside of the times when timed entry is in effect (for example, before 9 a.m. for most areas of the park) or make a timed entry reservation. |

Check-in is after 1 p.m.Check-Out Time: All campers must check out and vacate their campsites by 12 p.m. on their departure day.Hookups - A number of campsites have 20/30/50 amp electric hookups available. Moraine Park Campground does not have any sites with water or sewer hookups.Dump Station - An RV Dump Station is available near the ranger station. Solar Shower Stalls are available - This is a solar shower only. Users must provide their own shower bag for water. Water is not provided in the shower stalls. Laundry services are not available. |

Site Limits. Each site is limited to eight (8) persons and one camping unit (i.e., a tent, RV, or trailer/tow vehicle) plus one additional tent per site. All tents shall be located on the tent pad. All additional camp structures must be self standing without impacts to vegetation or trees. There is at least one parking space per site. Some sites may accommodate more than one vehicle. A vehicle is defined as one car/truck, one trailer, one RV, or one towed unit. Each vehicle must be parked on the gravel or paved parking pad causing no resource degradation or encroachment onto the main road. Extra vehicles must park in overflow areas.Maximum length of stay. The maximum length of stay during peak season is 7 nights. Please check the rules and regulations before making your reservation. |

Firewood. Firewood is available for purchase at Moraine Park Campground, and all other campgrounds in Rocky Mountain National Park.Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.STOP THE SPREAD OF INVASIVE SPECIES. Remove plants, seeds, animals, and mud from boots, gear, pets, and vehicles. Clean your gear before entering and leaving the recreation site. Stay on designated roads and trails and follow local guidelines for firewood. CLEAN, DRAIN, DRY boats and any other recreational equipment that contacts water. Dispose of unwanted bait, worms, fish parts, or other organisms into the trash and not into the environment. Stay Out of Hydroseeded Areas!Moraine Park Campground has recently been re-seeded after construction! This process, called hydroseeding, applies a combination of local native seed, mulch fiber, and water to disturbed areas, and looks similar to fine straw. Over the next couple of years, this seed will germinate and help restore the local native plant communities we know and love. Please protect these fragile areas by using designated paths and keeping kids and pets out of hydroseeded areas. |

Be Bear Aware when camping. Store all food and scented (soaps/lotions/toothpaste/lip balm – anything with a scent) items inside Food Storage Boxes provided at each campsite. RMNP has a zero tolerance policy for food storage violations. Do your part to help protect wildlife. |
