We visited for 3 days in
Mid November - 30* F nights with a sky full of stars, 60*F days with brilliant to filtered sunshine. The cold nights gave us the opportunity to stay warm and rest deeply in sleeping bags for 11-12 hours, as the sun rose and beamed on camp,
the "warmth" returned and melted the thin ice in the water jug.
Miles of Singletrack within a 2 minute spin from camp.
Juniper trees were loaded with berries. Wind was non existent.
"Feathery" grasses cover the ground, line the trails and soften the appearance of the desert. Heard coyotes at 3am one night. Also heard a curious sound at night, maybe grouse?
Online reservations guaranteed our campsite and gave us reassurance we had a "home" for 2 nights, unfortunately we didn't check for other site reservations and we had 2 "next door" neighbors with the campground 90% empty. Friendly neighbors :) with a generator :/
Campground is situated to view the sunrise + the sunset ( mid November ) - stellar location.
Thanks to our BLM and original MTB trail builders for recognizing the potential for beautiful MTBing in this exquisite place!

Excellent access to trails, great flat spot with a nice fire ring, permanent table. Place was quiet, restrooms were clean. Overall excellent.

Camping spots were spacious, with great picnic space and fire ring. For people accessing the trail system, the campground is perfectly located. We were there for an ultramarathon, but there were plenty of other outdoor enthusiasts sharing the trails. The bicyclists we encountered were far more courteous than other places in Colorado. The road to access the campground is very rough, so if you're towing a trailer, it will be a slow couple miles.

Would be a great CG, but for the people who feel entitled to use their generators all night.

I got a good spot and went on a quiet 2 days. The bathrooms were really clean, I hope they stay that way.

Nice campground. Be careful about site selection if you’re using a truck camper as not all sites have a driveway. Convenient location.

Reserving a campsite through rec.gov is wonderful. The are maps and pictures that are useful

Beautiful and quiet location. Our camper (27 ft) was a bit large for the camping spot we selected and not level. Many of the sites are at the side of the road without a "pull in". Wonderful to be there in October when it was not crowded!
