What Guests Are Saying
North Fruita Desert Campground offers fantastic sites with great access to mountain biking trails, making it an ideal spot for family trips. The campground is clean, well-marked, and features nicely wooded areas for shade, along with newly paved access roads. However, some campsites are close together, which can lead to noise, and visitors are advised to bring their own toilet paper as supplies may run out.

While the campground is fine and spartan as expected. The access road is beyond bad for small motor homes. The washboard dirt road eventually transitions into deteriorated asphalt that telegraphs the washboard dirt road underneath. Plan on 5mph maximum speed to get to the lower north campground. Sites were fine, just getting there was an adventure…

The bathroom needed to be cleaned and was almost out of TP. Also, the toilet was not really attached the the floor any more.

It was very busy but everyone was respectful, no trouble with noisy neighbors, the bathrooms were clean, overall a great place to camp and enjoy the mountain biking!

It was excellent. Pit toilets were surprisingly clean. Sites were level and free of rubbish. Location is hard to beat, given it's the base of the entire trail system. Lovely spot, perfect for all sorts of people and vehicles. The only issue was the road from Fruita to the campground.

Overall, this is a decent campground, although I wouldn’t call it “dispersed” as the sites are close together. The biggest problem is the number of no shows. We stayed 3 nights and had to move sites every night. At least half the sites were empty every night, even though the web site said they were reserved. Refunding the fee if you cancel might help this.

I never went to the campsite due to bad weather.

We spent 4 nights (Sun-Thurs) in early April. The campground and trails were quiet but started to fill up more as we got closer to the weekend. Restrooms were clean & nice. The sites are spaced pretty well and the picnic tables and roped-off sites make it feel more organized. We had to run into town to get more water for the last night and that road is not one I'd like to do too much. Very washboard but worth it.
