Eleven Mile Canyon is beautiful and Springer Gulch is in a beautiful setting set in the canyon. The site was well maintained and the vault toilet was clean. Highly recommend.

Very enjoyable time. Fishing was excellent. Only negative thing I could say is the road in and out was terrible. The folks that take care of the campgrounds that I met were all very nice and shared a lot of information about the area that was much appreciated. I will return.

We enjoyed a late-fall trip to Springer Gulch CG. Site 5 was excellent for our tent trailer and was situated on a south-facing slope outside of the trees, meaning we warmed up fairly quickly in the mornings. There is also a (fairly) level tent pad and a nice picnic table and fire ring. Large trash containers are located at the CG entrance. The site was very clean and the maintenance folks were friendly. There was no on-site host during our stay, but the neighbors were polite and quiet. I read a comment about the rough entrance road (FR 96) but we found it was exceptionally smooth; seemed to have been recently graded.

I wish I could lie and say it was no good to keep people from coming here but this area is fantastic. The campgrounds were good, no one was too loud, friendly people all around. Weekends get busy. Will be back.

Getting There
From Lake George, turn south off Highway 24 onto County Road 96. Follow County Road 96 turn right to the Eleven Mile Canyon entrance. Springer Gulch Campground is on the right about 6 mi from the entrance.

Springer Gulch Campground is accessed via County Road 96, which connects to Highway 24 approximately 6 miles to the north.

General
- Alert for Reservation Holders: There is a one-time fee of $11.00 to enter Eleven Mile Canyon Recreation Area in which your campground is located. You will only have to pay this fee once for the duration of your stay.An Annual Pass is available for purchase at this location. The fee for the 2026 Calendar Year Pass is $100.00.
- Two vehicles or one RV per site is included in the camping fee. $11.00 for a third vehicle.
- Dogs must be on a leash or tethered at all times. Also, pets must never be left alone while you are sightseeing.
- Be bear aware; keep all food out of site in approved containers or locked inside your vehicle and remove all food from area after eating
- This is a high elevation facility, please use caution when traveling from lower elevations

- Don't Move Firewood: Prevent the spread of tree-killing organisms by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Firewood is available to purchase on site, depending on any fire ban. For more information visit dontmovefirewood.org.
- ATV's and off road vehicles are prohibited in the campground and Eleven Mile Canyon
- The use, sale, and possession of all forms of cannabis in the United States is illegal under federal law on federal land.
- Shooting of any type is prohibited in the campground and Eleven Mile Canyon
- Reservations are available up to 5 days prior to arrival date. Sites not reserved 5 days before become ‘walk-up’ and are available on a ‘first come - first serve’ bases.
- Firewood is available for sale at host site for $10.00/bundle.
