I love White Star campground, I have a lot of great memories from years ago when the kids were small and we would go. The scenery is beautiful, lots of things to do, lots of places to drive to if you want to go explore, it's at the base of Independence pass. Twin Lakes Village is maybe a mile away. One thing to note, they do not have water so bring plenty, and another thing, a local told us they do not stock the lake for fishing. Campground host was very nice. We stayed at site #14 Sage loop, walk up the hill and the beautiful lake and Mountain View, spent a lot of time sitting up there.

We pull a 22' Travel Trailer with a Ford F150. This campground is very easy to maneuver through, and the site was easy to back into. Only a couple inches of leveling was required. Plenty of room for our 22' trailer and truck, and one could easily park a second car as well.
The site has great views of the surrounding mountains. You can't quite see the lake from the site, but if you walk about 50 feet, you will see it. The path to hike down to the lake is very close by. There is a good amount of shade, and there are several awesome spots for tents if you have a larger party. Very good spacing between campsites so there is a good amount of "aloneness".
Campground is far enough off the main road that it is very quiet at night. This area can get a bit windy at times. Can also get a bit chilly at night. Water is very cold, so if you are planning to paddle board, be prepared if you fall in!
The campground is very clean. Good bathrooms, and water spigots are close by (water was turned off while we were the due to maintenance, though). There is a sanitation dump station at this campground free of charge. Verizon cell service is good and we could easily stream a Netflix movie. General store is about 2 miles further down the road to get basic stuff.
Leadville: 20 minutes
Vail: 1 hour
Aspen: 1 hour (over Independence Pass)

Wonderful campground. The sites were large and not too close together. Beautiful views. The camp hosts were wonderful. They had wood for sale and kept a close eye on the campground. They stopped by several times to make sure we had everything we needed and were having a good time. My only question is why did the campground not have water this summer and why was the dump station not working,
