What Guests Are Saying
Lakeview Campground offers stunning views, well-maintained sites, and a private, quiet atmosphere, making it a favorite among visitors. Many appreciated the clean facilities and helpful camp host, Rick, who enhances the experience. While some sites may be smaller than advertised and noise from nearby roads and dispersed campers can be an issue, the overall beauty and accessibility to trails and nearby lakes make it a worthwhile destination.

We stayed at site E001 on 8/12 early on our cross country roadtrip. The site’s views are somewhat more obstructed than other sites’ but beautiful nonetheless. We spent the evening and morning walking down the CDT trail (which is right alongside the site) to enjoy the full open view. Saw fox. At no point was noise an issue, and the site felt private and safe for us as two young women. We stayed at nearly 30 campgrounds all over the country during this trip and Lakeview was one of my favorites. The views, the quiet, and the well-spaced and uniquely built sites were all wonderful.

This specific site was great. It was quite wooded and relatively private, not a far walk to the bathrooms and trash.

Really nice campground with plenty of nice sites. Campground host nice fellow. Loved that the Colorado Trail passes right through. Other nice trails in the area...you don't have to drive to get to a trailhead!

Out tent site in loop F02 was not great because the area intended for a tent was on a hill and not flat at all. We ended up pitching our tent in the parking space in front of our car. Also, the nearby vault toilet was old and full of flies, so you wanted to be in and out of there fast. In general our spot was quiet but you could hear cars on the road below heading through town. Gorgeous views nearby looking south during the sunset!!

Beautiful secluded campground at the foot of Mt. Elbert overlooking the Twin Lakes. Colorado Trail runs through the CG and leads to the Continental Divide Trail and South Mt. Elbert Trail. Dry camping, but great for hiking or just plain relaxing. Our favorite summer getaway.

Nice site. Partial view of Twin Lakes. Site just BARELY accommodated a 38 ft trailer and an adjacent truck. There are a lot of boondocking sites available in the vicinity, but we prefer to have certainty of a spot when arriving. Biked CDT both directions, around Twin Lakes, even Columbine Road during our stay. Biked much of the route of the Leadville 100 race, but stayed off the route on race day
