What Guests Are Saying
The Black Canyon of the Gunnison South Rim Campground offers breathtaking views and a peaceful environment, making it a great spot for camping. Many reviewers praised the cleanliness of the facilities and the helpfulness of the camp host, as well as the accessibility of restrooms and water. However, recent wildfires have led to some sites being less than ideal, with limited shade and closeness of campsites, which affected some visitors' experiences. Overall, it remains a beautiful destination worth visiting despite the challenges.

People and scenery were very nice. B Loop campground would not accommodate rv. Had to park alongside road.

Site was not level. Very buggy. Many barking dogs.
I did like the deer walking through the campsite and the accessibility to the sites.

We loved everything about our campsite at the South Rim of Black Canyon of the Gunnison. The park ranger was so friendly as soon as we entered the park. Our spot was reserved with our name and date at the campsite. We had a nice spot to back in our camper (make sure you check out the size of the campsite for your RV- we had a 25 ft and our spot definitely wouldn't have held anything bigger). It was so quite and felt so secluded. We cooked our dinner over the fire (fire ring provided) and watched the sun set over the mountains. It was wonderful and exactly what we were looking for in a camp. We will be back!

We had issues when we arrived, there was another family who had their things in our reserved campsite. The campsite host and park ranger helped us solve the problem and were extremely nice. Would definitely recommend.

Clean and quiet. Sites can be small. Lots of RVs parked along road instead backed into sites.

Found a deer at my campsite. Good place to look at stars. Garbage is a little bit of a walk, depending on where you're situated.

Beautiful campgrounds (Loop B, partial hook-ups), spaced to maximize privacy. Clean vault toilet, and there is a drinking water station for each loop. Area well-patrolled by friendly Park personnel. Great base for exploring all trails in Park--every one of which was marked and maintained, making our treks (100 ft. to 2 mi.) more enjoyable. Black Canyon N.P. is too spectacular for words or pictures...you gotta go! We recommend 2 or 3 night trip to do most trails.

Beautiful canyon! Challenging hiking. Dark sky, what more can I say.
