What Guests Are Saying
The Black Canyon of the Gunnison South Rim Campground offers breathtaking views and a peaceful environment, making it a great spot for camping. Many reviewers praised the cleanliness of the facilities and the helpfulness of the camp host, as well as the accessibility of restrooms and water. However, recent wildfires have led to some sites being less than ideal, with limited shade and closeness of campsites, which affected some visitors' experiences. Overall, it remains a beautiful destination worth visiting despite the challenges.

Amazing views whether you are at the rim or whether you hike into the canyon like we did. Do the Gunnison wilderness into the canyon trail (only 15 people allowed per day, it is worth the wait in line the day before to get a pass)

Enjoyed our stay very much but wish the road down to the river hadn't been closed.

Very nice and clean campground. We just wish there are more shaded sites and bigger tent pads for most of the campsite. Overall, we are very happy with the campground and created a lot of DarkSky memories..

The Nat'l Parks are still on a reduced personnel program. Black Canyon was better than our previous trips to Great Sand Dunes and death Valley. However, access to the knowledge and directions of the park personnel are key to a successful park visit. The facilities at the campground are very good: electricity is such a bonus; water availability is restricted; pit toilets were clean and supplied. It would be nice to have access to the canyon rim from the campground. This would greatly reduce car trips.

We've been to Rocky mountain for years because it's ours and it's close. And the sand dunes long time ago and Mesa Verde I've been saving this one I don't know why because it is amazing we were lucky to spend 4 days there got to see several sunsets to sunrises glorious Colorado midday skies this place is incredibly beautiful. And for those people who were complaining that there's no place to eat in the park come on drive 20 mi down to Montrose the campsites were indeed close together but it was very cozy in those gamble scrub oaks and we met quite a few nice people up there highly recommend this is a hidden gem it is a long drive from fort Collins but it was worth it next time we'd like to raft out the Gunnison where it's a little less steep on the outflow to Delta. Amazing place we're lucky here in Colorado
