We enjoyed the area but wished we had a campsite closer to the water. We were too far to walk to the lake and had to drive our camper to see it. So if you go, look for a site on or near the water. The drive back to the campground was a long dirt road so be ready for that.

I love this ⛺️ Place. My host was very professional and caring. Somebody left the trash/food out, which attracted bears 🐻. My host suggested for me to purchase certain items in town to protect myself. (Her words “I won’t be able to sleep till you purchase the items”) I went into town and texted her that I di have them and send a picture as well)
Thanks for keeping us safe, clean facilities, clean camping-sites and the upmost respect for us campers! Its always a pleasure camping at Arapahoe Bay.

Excellent spot, but you’ll definitely need to bring some shade. It is a bit of a hike up the hill from the parking spot, but a little closer if you drive around and go up from the vault toilets. There’s another site close through the trees that was unoccupied while I was there. That site will need to walk through this site to get to vault toilets. You can hear the water through what I’ll call the spillway(couldn’t find the source but didn’t look hard). There’s a great little shop at the entrance to the campsite for wood and stuff. Great view of the bay. Overall a great site if you don’t have a lot of gear to haul up.

Beware of ARAPAHO VALLEY RANCH!!!
We camped at the Big Rock loop which is situated right next to Arapaho Valley Ranch which occasionally hosts private events. I am not exactly sure what was happening there but all night Friday & Saturday we kept hearing a crowd "WOOOH"'ing and there was a live band playing until 10 PM. Not exactly the peaceful camping experience we were hoping for.

I have stayed at this campground many times over the years. The bathrooms have always been clean along with the campsite. However, on more than one occasion, there has been issues with water being available. This past trip there was no water available - but at least it was communicated prior and I was given a partial refund.

Pleasant host, great campsite overlooking the lake, bear boxes were clean, water was closed but partial refund was provided. Long entrance road for a bumpy vehicle but a beautiful drive. Fun little store and campground lodge nearby. They stock essentials and even had free chicken eggs! Would highly recommend the campsite.

We camped for 4 days in our 26' trailer at Arapaho Bay Big Rock Loop. The entire Loop is beautiful, very forested. All of the sites we saw were well maintained and clean as were the bathrooms. The host was friendly and helpful. Only suggestion might be if you are backing in a trailer you may want to choose a different site. We were in site 15 and getting in between the trees and still pulling the steps down onto the pad was tricky. We managed but next time (and there will be a next time) we will choose a different site.
