What Guests Are Saying
Burning Bear Campground is praised for its peaceful atmosphere, cleanliness, and stunning mountain views, making it a favorite among visitors in Colorado. The campground hosts are friendly and welcoming, contributing to a pleasant experience, although some guests noted a lack of host presence during their stay. Small campground in a beautiful area. Our site was shady and pretty level. Close to ATV trails.

The campground was very beautiful, lots of trees and a great view of the mountains to the west. It is up against national forest, so accessibility is good. The camp host was attentive, and maintained the restrooms well. The only downside is the water situation. The campground is listed as having water, however the well pump gives very rusty well water. Bring a water filter.

Very quiet and tidy grounds. Outhouses clean. Camp host Jeff was available to answer questions and sell firewood. Bring your own water — the pump at camp churned out brown water.
The camp is about a 15 minute drive to Mt Bierstadt trail.

The campground was very easy to access from 285 and was a nice smaller loop. Due to the trees in each site some may be difficult to park campers in.

I absolutely love this campground! It's the perfect sleep spot for some great hiking! The host was very helpful. I look forward to my next trip up there! Next time...Loop 1 #3

Small campground with only 13 sites, which is a nice change from some of the bigger campgrounds. The outside sites back right up to the woods and mountain (quite a great playground for kids!). The views down through the valley are great. It's a short stroll over to the Abyss trailhead and the Burning Bear trailhead with water right near the trailhead (Geneva Creek). There's only one bathroom, but it's good enough for a smaller campground. One tidbit about the sites, most of the outside sites that back to the mountain have some decent slope, which means those tent camping will have to figure out the best angle to setup their tent or have to deal with sleeping on quite a slope. We missed a bull moose stroll through the campsite the morning we arrive, but had daily visits from deer. Good spot and I'd probably stay here again.

This is a quiet, smaller campground that had a great view and easy access to trails. The campground was clean with well kept toilet facilities. Camp host wasn't there for most of the day but was available in the evenings for purchasing of firewood. I believe his name was Jacob and he was very helpful (even assisted with watching when we backed the camper into place). We will definitely consider this campground again in the future.
