This is a very easily accessible camp site, just off US-285 and about an hour and a half-ish from Denver. You're not far from the highway, so there is a bit of road noise through the night but not enough to be very distracting. The area is well forested and the loop road is nicely maintained. There is a camp host who gives out provisions to hikers, which is a neat asset for this area. You also have access to a lot of nice hiking areas - just across the road is a huge aspen stand, just down the road is Lake Jefferson. You can also putz around the bustling metropolis of Fairplay if you want to see where the cartoon South Park is set.
Overall, it's a nice getaway. Good for families, pets, and nature-bathing.

Campground has clean restrooms and potable well water. It’s very wooded and quiet except for the occasional loud truck that passes on 285.

Really nice campground tucked in the aspen trees. No cell service unless you walk down to the highway, but that was OK. Great access to the Colorado Trail. We were able to pull into our campsite (#22) with our 5th wheel but couldn't get perfectly level side-to-side. We scoped out a couple of other sites that will work for us the next time we camp here.

It's ok. Plenty of good trails a drive way. Not a lot of privacy around the campsite, or quiteness.

Nice campground and super-nice camp host. But, If you want a quiet get-away from town, this is not the place as highway traffic is very noticeable even at night. Recommend sites farthest away from entrance if looking to camp here and value quiet.
