Have been here many times and it’s always a wonderful experience. Saw a few moose and have access to the Colorado trail can’t be beat.

By far our favorite place to camp . It’s a reasonable drive, sites and clean and well maintained, camp hosts are nice and did manage a rowdy group well.
We only had one issue with an abnormally large amount of bees which made it hard to have meals or be near the table that’s at the site but that’s nothing any one can fix.
We will absolutely be back and hope this stays a little hidden gem where it’s reasonable to get a site on a whim !

The road to the campground is terrible.....
In the campground the dust is pretty bad.
Don't know why we have to pay at the gate when we have
already paid for our campsite.

The road going in has wash board for more than 2 mi. So bad that I only drove at 5 mph.
Even though I already paid for camping I had to pay a daily use fee to get to the campground.
The campground host ran out of firewood the 3rd day we were there.
Other than that the campground is nice. Camp sites are a little close together. Lots of trees so not good for solar.

The hosts were friendly and actually enforced the rules which is refreshing as we don’t see that in a lot of campgrounds.
The campground was clean, toilets were clean, pump water was good and overall everyone was quiet during quiet hours and respectful. We will definitely come back. Some spots are close together but most have a decent space between them for a is forest campground.

I love coming here to see the moose! But also nice because of the Antelope and Elk!

Getting There
From US Highway 285 at Jefferson, take County Road 35 north to County Road 37 and turn right. Pay the user fee at Jefferson Lake Recreation Area entrance station and continue on the road to the campground.

Lodgepole is accessible via US Highway 285, located approximately 10 miles to the south. From US Highway 285, take County Road 35 north to reach the campground.
