I have been going here for over 25 years, at least once a year. The campground is always clean. The setting is beautiful. And then a short drive to the lake for fishing or hiking. Gorgeous!

The sites are in a beautiful spot with beaver ponds. Lots of room between sites. 5 minute drive to the gorgeous Jefferson Lake. Clean vault toilets. Friendly host.

Wade and Kim were the best camp hosts we've had! Very friendly and helpful! We've stayed at Jefferson Creek for a few years now, and love being there. Will definitely be back again next year and can only hope that Wade and Kim will come back too!

We stayed at campsite 11 and its a great site. It’s right next to the bathroom but far enough to not have bathroom smells. It’s very generously sized site. We will be back. Mama and baby Moose walked right through our site in the AM!

Very nice campsite, bathrooms were clean, wasn’t very busy during the weekend. Good places to pitch tents that are flat.

This is a smaller campground nicely tucked back in a side canyon of South Park. Well shaded, quiet, well-kept restrooms, direct access to hiking trails, nearby fishing and recreating opportunities, primarily at Jefferson Lake.

Our location was amazing (#5) being close enough to the creek to hear it and close to the restrooms as well. We had plenty of room for two tents and a camping kitchen. The restrooms are the cleanest/best smelling of their type I've ever used. The water pump wasn't working during our trip, but we were able to use the water pump at a close by camp site (drove over, filled, and drove back). Plenty of walking trails and beautiful scenery. We even saw some moose!

Getting There
From US Highway 285 at Jefferson, Colorado, take County Road 35 north to County Road 37 and turn right. Pay the user fee at Jefferson Lake Recreation Area entrance station and continue on the road to the campground.

Jefferson Creek is accessible via US Highway 285, which is approximately 8 miles away at Jefferson, Colorado.

General
- Alert for Reservation Holders: There is a one-time fee of $11.00 to enter Jefferson Lake Recreation Area in which your campground is located. You will only have to pay this fee once for the duration of your stay. There is an Annual Pass available for purchase here. The fee for the 2025 calendar year pass is $100.00.
- Please note it is difficult to access Jefferson Lake Recreation Area during the winter months; the roads to this site are not maintained for snow throughout the winter. County Road 37 is an unpaved gravel surface road that leads to the entrance of the area.
- Be bear aware; keep all food out of sight in approved containers or locked inside your vehicle and remove all food from area after eating
- This is a high elevation facility, please use caution when traveling from lower elevations
- No RV hookups are available. Also, No pay phones are available.

- Don't Move Firewood: Prevent the spread of tree-killing organisms by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Firewood is available to purchase on site, depending on any fire ban. For more information visit dontmovefirewood.org.
- The use, sale, and possession of all forms of cannabis in the United States is illegal under federal law on federal land.
- Shooting of any type is prohibited in the campground and Jefferson Lake Recreation Area
- ATV's and off road vehicles are prohibited in the campground and Jefferson Lake Recreation Area
- Dogs must be on a leash or tethered at all times.
- Reservations are available up to 5 days prior to arrival date. Sites not reserved 5 days before become ‘walk-up’ and are available on a ‘first come - first serve’ bases.
- Two vehicles or one RV per site is included in the camping fee. $11.00 for a third vehicle. $11.00 fee for day use if not camping overnight.
- Firewood is available for sale at host site for $10.00/bundle.
