This is a great campground. It has trails right out of the campground. You can go several directions and the CO trail is right there too. It's close to the lake, which is a great little lake. The lake gets pretty busy in the mid morning to later afternoon. But you learn to work around that. I always go over to the lake to paddleboard earlier in the morning and leave when it gets crowded. It was great to see the moose several times. I don't mind the dirt road drive. You get back in there and feel like you have gotten away from the rat race even though you aren't that far from Hwy 285. To me, the extra fee at the gate is worth it. I have some favorite sites but. they are all fine. Some are on the shady side and some are in the sun, but on the creek side.
This summer, they had the best campground host ever. The couple was kind and caring. They watched out for the needs of everyone. It was their goal to make your experience better and just help out with whatever need came up. That really helped me feel good about where I was camping and able to truly relax. I would love to have campground hosts like that everywhere.

The scenery around Jefferson Lake is beautiful. The fishing is very good. In the area around the lake are numerous picnic sites secluded from each other to give that private experience.

Nice campground on the smaller size. Everything was clean and well attended. The lake is nearby which is very nice, but it was crowded when we were there on the weekend. It does take 3 miles of a drive on a gravel road to get to the campground.

Flat space for multiple tents at this site was a little hard to find and limited shade during the day, but otherwise we had an awesome stay and the kids had a blast exploring the nearby creek.

Campground is fairly small, some sites have little separation. Water is from a handpump and it is a work out to get 5 gallons. There was no campground host, so the toilets were dirty. it is a nice area, close to Jefferson lake. The beavers are very active along Jefferson Creek.

Great place to camp, however the lake was filled with paddle boards who think they own the lake. Ruin a couple of fishing lines I had out in the water!

Fabulous campsite although we could smell the toilet when the wind blew in the right direction, which seemed often. Delicious well water!

Site 001 flooded unfortunately on July 17 which resulted in us having to pack everything up and bail. Every bit of 001 was effectively a deep puddle.
Aside from that, the location is lovely, it seems most of the other sites were fine and not flooded. I would do this campground again, though probably not this specific site.
I would recommend.

The campground is beautiful. Unfortunately the camp hosts were completely inattentive. They didn’t do any cleaning of campsites after campers left. There was trash in the fire pits, no toilet paper in the vault toilet. And trash left outside the dumpsters was just left there.
