Cascade Campground in Colorado is praised for its stunning location, spacious and well-maintained campsites, and a friendly, helpful camp host. Visitors appreciate the beautiful views, especially during the fall, and the proximity to hiking trails and attractions like St. Elmo Ghost Town and Mt. Princeton Hot Springs. However, some guests noted issues with water availability and reservation challenges, as well as occasional road noise, which could impact the camping experience.

The Mount Princeton area is full of things to do for every age. Near the campground are hiking trails for novice to serious hikers; Stream and lake fishing for all skill levels for those that want to get a line wet; St. Elmo ghost town is a great day trip with a lot of historical sites to take in; and a short trip to visit Buena Vista and Salida for some exceptional local dining. K's Dairy Delite (burgers), Simple Eatery, and Eddyline in BV are favorites. Amicas, Moonlight, and Las Camelinas in Salida never disappoint. Both BV and Salida have fantastic public parks for kids of all ages. A note for campers - potable water and RV dump station available at the visitor's center at Hwy 285 and US 50.

Very quiet campground, back in the woods but close to trails, horseback riding, and the Hot Springs. The camp hosts are friendly, helpful and personable. Clean site, nice tent pads, and good fire ring.

The camp host was outstanding. He taught my 7 year old grandson a way to fish. My grandson was so excited he drew the host a picture and took it to him. Everything was kept clean. To us the water out of the pump was not drinkable. It was pretty dirty. The traffic on the road sure goes fast.
