Ohaver Lake

So nice to have new campground hosts that are kind and respectful to the campers. If the same hosts from the past 2 years were still there my wife and I were going to leave. Sound really travels in the campground, please be respectful and don't make excessive noise, like generators running all day and night, loud music, cranking a diesel truck for hours.

This is the most beautiful campsite! We loved being right next to the lake and waking up in the pine trees and seeing the mountains. We did a lot of fishing and bike riding. We drive up to the top and looked down. A few people had kayaks or paddle boards. It’s all very nicely terraced with steps. Since there are no hook-ups, the other guests were tent campers like us or small trailer type campers. The hosts were very kind. Please note that even over Memorial Day, the temps dropped to almost freezing at night so just be prepared for the cold. Also, there are no sinks at the restrooms so bring hand soap, water and sanitizer. And, a place to wash your dishes. Other than that- it’s seriously the best camping spot if you love the outdoors!

Such a beautiful campground! We had space 19. Number 18 never showed up for their reservation. So I think that made our spot a lot better. We were right on the lake and had a beautiful view of the snow capped mountain! There were a lot of people on the lake during the day and many dogs off leash. Our site was pretty close to the toilet but not too close. Overall I would definitely be coming back!!

The area is lovely, the fish were biting, the host was friendly, we met nice people ... we had a wonderful time!

The site, camp spot, and other guest were awesome. One of the prettiest places we have ever camped. It was very crowded, of course being 2020. The biggest (only) real problem was the bathrooms. They simply weren't being emptied and/or cleaned often enough for the amount of traffic the campground had. Our spot was not far enough up wind... and we had a camper with water storage and our own toilet & tanks thankfully. My wife probably would have made us leave if she had to use the public facility. The location itself and view is nearly perfect. The road in was a little rough and dry, washboard, made it difficult for a 30' camper. The camp host was blunt, but nice enough as he was working hard.

We typically love going to O'haver, but our experience this past year was awful. The camp hosts gave away our site and our friend's site. When we pulled up someone was in our spot, and they told us they "paid the camp host cash." When we went to the host, they were very rude; especially the female spouse. Instead of being kind and supportive because we drove two hours to get to our site, she was very defensive, and when I reminded her that she should focus on being nice to her customers, she stated, "well we should have nice customers." We ended up parking in the parking lot overnight until we could work something out in the morning. Ended up that the local Park Ranger came and apologized and refunded us some of our money. They found us a different site we could move to later in the day. While our dogs were on leashes, the camp host watched us like hawks and told us to have our dogs on leashes....and we did. They just couldn't see the leashes from where they were so they assumed we were breaking the rules. And when we walked around the campground, there were four dogs off leash, and they never approached those families. The dogs were off leash pretty much the entire weekend. It was clear to us the camp hosts were giving away sites to their friends or locals if you didn't arrive by 2 pm, and pocketing the money. We've never had an issue at any of the federal campsites like this before. Life happens and sometimes you arrive a few hours late, but never to our site being given away. The female host needs some courses and education on customer service and conflict resolution. And three people in our group were disabled vets. We have disabled vet license plates. And yet she continued to be very rude. We love O'haver, but if the hosts from last year are there again, we will never go back. What a shame. Such a beautiful, peaceful location.
