Great campground, one of my favorites. The only reason this is 4 stars vs 5 stars is we stayed in one of the group sites, and it did not have an area specific for a tent pad, so our friends had to setup their tent between the picnic tables

O'haver is a family favorite and we try to camp here at least once a year. The quality of the campsites and the close proximity to the lake make it a great destination.

We really enjoyed the close proximity to the lake and the camp hosts were friendly and helpful. Some of the campsites have “dining areas” too close to each other so there’s less privacy and more risk of being too close to people you don’t know (not a good plan during COVID) Luckily we had our own camper to use and so we didn’t need to use the picnic tables much. We were in site 9 and felt directly on top of the site next to us (I believe #7)
The views were incredible and paddle boarding here was so peaceful for my kiddos and me. I would say that the bathrooms could be kept cleaner (like swept out daily as the floor was covered in dead flies our entire time there)
All in all it was a very good experience and we will definitely be back!

Loved the campground and the lake. The host (name not known) was less than friendly and on the border of harassing us. He asked where we intended to dump our porta potty and I said in the toilet. He was very concerned about that as others had left a mess. He made us feel uncomfortable.
He came back the next day and accused us of making a mess in the bathroom. I said we hadn't been to the toilet and would not use it because of covid. Since some campgrounds now use the new concessioner (not Recreation Resource Management) campground management has suffered.

The location was beautiful. You take a 10-minute ride on a bouncy dirt road to get there, but the site was tucked away in a slice of heaven. There were lots of fishermen. The campsites were very well maintained and clean. TP was stocked up when running low and people were great about leaving no trace. We appreciated being able to have a fire in the firepit and roast marshmallows (most other national parks don't allow fires anymore) and the tent pads were nice and flat.
On Day 2 we drove 90 minutes south to check out The Great Sand Dunes National Park and had a blast. You can rent sand sleds and boards off-site and bring them for the kids. What fun and not a very far drive from the site. That night we drove into Salida, which is super close (20 min) for Pizza. What a cute town!
We look forward to staying there again. My 3 teenagers and dog loved it.
