What Guests Are Saying

Dumont Campground is praised for its beautiful, peaceful location with spacious campsites that offer excellent privacy and access to stunning wildflowers and hiking trails. Many visitors enjoyed activities like paddleboarding and fishing at nearby Dumont Lake, and the campground is well-maintained with clean restrooms. However, some campers noted issues with mosquitoes and uneven site levels, which can impact the experience, particularly in summer.

Beautiful, peaceful location. Sites feel less on top of each other than many other campgrounds, which is much appreciated!

Busy campground, site 15 probably most private but you still can see straight into site 14 if you happen to have neighbors. Buggy, but other than that excellent site. Some of the best stargazing I've seen in CO.

My favorite campground. Sites are spread out so more privacy than most campgrounds. So much open space in the campground vs. cramming another dozen sites in. The wildflowers were amazing in camp and on the surrounding trails. Being able to access the trails directly from the campground is awesome. Having Dumont Lake right there is just icing on the cake. Site 13 is on a slope so not optimal but not overly problematic.

The Campsites are huge and well-maintained. "Neighbors" are very far away, and our site had lots of mature trees, plenty of parking for our 2 cars, and a big flat area for our 6-person tent. The hiking in August was beautiful with all the wildflowers. We also went paddleboarding and swimming in Lake Dumont. Steamboat is about 30 minutes away, and we went into town to thrift shop, get coffee, and eat dinner. We also hiked the Skyline section of Fish Creek Falls. We highly recommend spot #10 in this campground.

This is a lovely place to camp.
Please update trailer length information for campsite 12. It is listed as 30 feet in length but a large root in the center makes it hard to park a trailer with normal clearance. Campers have had to give up on the site and hope for a FF opening. Thanks.

One of the most beautiful campgrounds I've ever stayed at. The wildflowers were popping and there was a family of foxes providing lots of entertainment. No potable water when I was there, but still a lovely campsite!

We love coming up here. Quiet, peaceful, lots of flowers, and good hiking right out of the campground.
