Dumont Campground

RESTROOMS ARE NOT KEEPED VERY CLEAN.

Very nice campground

Scenic location, remote and easy access...close to Steamboat Springs.20min drive.

Slow driving through potholes...this spot #9...some leveling required.

Great campground. Beautiful scenery, quiet, good trail access. Dumont lake fishing didn’t compare to years past. Also, campground lacked a good water source.

We enjoyed our stay but feel as if the campground is getting run down and not being taken care of. We have been camping here over 8 years. Without a campground host or regular monitoring, campers are taking advantage of the freedom. There were a few sites that had over the 2 car limit and way more people. Also tents were set up in the open areas. Outhouses were not as clean as usual. Many campsites also had fires which were banned over Labor Day. Hope this campground does not get run down because of abuse. We love camping here.

Boondocking only. No hookups, no water, no dump station. Just perfect high altitude evenings. Brilliant sunsets.

Beautiful views with plenty of space between spaces. No shade at the picnic table at spot 18 but we enjoyed setting up our tent near the trees close by, a short walk in. There is no potable water, bring your own! Close by sheep herding was very cool. Also saw a red fox, mule deer. Hiked rabbit ears pass, well worth the climb. Will be back.

One of the best spots in the campground I think! Shade for your vehicle as well as two separate tent spots tucked in to the trees.

The sites were spread out, the vault toilets were clean, and the site we had (8) was level for our camper. The sites also have picnic tables and fire pits which is nice. The views are absolutely stunning and there are plenty of trails for hiking, biking, and walking which is great. The only thing I would say to improve on would be some brush and grass overgrowth - especially on the drive in which narrows the road quite a bit and some branches could scratch cars/campers and then there is some wash out on the gravel roads that could use fill in so the drive is a little smoother, especially with a camper. Overall we were happy with out stay and would return!

The location is awesome. There's plenty of space between most sites. Some aren't level, and most are big enough for small units or tents. The pit toilets are the filthiest I've seen during my four months of traveling in national forests in five states. There was no toilet paper in either toilet; there was toilet paper and empty rolls on the floor. The floors hadn't been mopped. They were filthy. I called Steve, the area supervisor. I told him they were the filthiest pit toilets I had seen. He did not seem concerned by my remarks. There was toilet paper that afternoon, but the floor didn't get mopped. Steve told me they didn't mop; they used a disinfectant. The interesting thing was that the Meadows campground in the National Forest, 4 mi up the road, had clean pit toilets and toilet paper.
