What Guests Are Saying
Dumont Campground is praised for its stunning scenery, excellent hiking, and proximity to Dumont Lake, making it ideal for outdoor activities like paddleboarding and biking. The campground is clean, well-maintained, and offers large, private sites, although some are not level and may require leveling blocks. While there are challenges such as a lack of drinking water and significant mosquito presence, the overall atmosphere and beautiful wildflowers contribute to a positive camping experience.

Fabulous place. Good hiking right out of the campground. The flowers are gorgeous and a very nice lake. However, the driveways are not even close to level. There were 3 families in our group. We all had incredible difficulty leveling our RVs. Mine got close, but using every block I had, I still couldn't get it level.

Weather was terrible and the camping spot was very muddy and not level so we did not use it.

Dumont is a lovely location. Scenic, great views. There is the lake and the fish were biting on a bait. Our grandson got to catch some keepers for dinner. There is the Divide Trail. As much hiking, biking, even horse back riding from an appropriate trailhead. No horses in the campground, though. No water available. Some vintage privies and new ones. Some sunny sites, some shady ones.

The campground was clean and the roads were in good condition. The information board was up to date. Our site was clean and the picnic table in good shape. The bathrooms were clean, well maintained and with a generous supply of toilet paper.
While the Rout National Forest was under a stage 1 fire warning the vegetation didn't look dry nor distressed. The lake level was normal. There were three other campers set up while we were there, they were quiet and well behaved. It's a nice campground with close proximity to Steamboat Springs. I would recommend this campground and i will use it again.
