Great campground located near some of the best hiking trails in Colorado. Must trails to hike are Gilpin Lake, Gold Creek Lake, Mica Basin and Three Island Lake. Most sites are well spaced out with enough trees to visually block your neighbors. There was no cell phone coverage on T-Mobile and Verizon although T-Mobile T-Sat texting work without a problem. The only negative is the quality of the well water at the campground. The water was slightly brown with sandy sediment. I would recommend bring your own drinking water or use some type of filtration.

Seedhouse was very well maintained. There was absolutely no trash at our site and the table and fire pit were in great shape. Most sites have good shade and several back up to the river with great white noise. There are a few trails that you can hike straight from the campground, and the Slavonia Trailhead is only a few miles up the road (2wd accessible) with an amazing loop past alpine lakes and amazing views! There is spotty Verizon SMS service and even more spotty data, but it's great to unplug while there. Highly recommend this campground!

Campground was quiet and not busy - in fact so quiet that a bear came to the site while cooking breakfast and got into the food. The bear had no fear of us so be aware of bear activity in the area.

Quiet and well spaced and private sites. Clean bathrooms and water was a bonus. We had a great night and backpacked in the zirkel wilderness the next night. Def recommend this area!

We love this area, and the campground. However, a few things to consider - there are only a few spots that really can accommodate a camper/rv trailer, even a small 17' like ours. Most of the sites are better suited for car/tent camping. Though the North Fork of the Elk River is close, it's not easily accessible. Some of the access is very steep, and there is a lot of downed trees blocking access. There are many great trails close by.

From downtown Steamboat Springs, Colorado, take U.S. Highway 40 west and turn right on Routt County Road 129, locally known as Elk River Road. Continue north 17 mi, cross the Elk River just beyond the Clark Store, and turn right along the river on RCR 64, which becomes Forest Road 400/Seedhouse Road. Continue for 9 mi. Seedhouse Campground is on the right, just after the bridge over the North Fork of the Elk River.
