Alexander Springs is a wonderful location to camp. Plumbing, I’m glad to hear is a work in progress. Please take out the outdated rectangle concrete structures that once designated tent location. It only limits the sites space for tents. Family camping for the last fifteen years for Thanksgiving has been a joy at Alexander Springs. Imagine how shocked and disappointed we felt when campers due to use my site next we’re allowed to park in front of the site watching us pack up. That was rude and individuals should not be allowed on site until it’s cleared by you.

Lisa (I believe that was her name) at the front was a dear and checked us in seamlessly. Campsite was big and well maintained. Loved it and it fit the whole crew!

Each campsite has a bear-safe box, a fire ring, and a fire-grill stand. Our site had been raked and cleaned before our arrival, too. The bathrooms are clean and well-supplied. There was ample firewood available for purchase, too. Overall, an excellent stay!

We had a nice, large, relatively private campsite. Bathhouse was clean. To use the shower you repeatedly push button on wall - would have liked warmer water in shower. Our campsite was very near a busy road so lots of road noise. The spring is beautiful. Very nice out and back paddle from ramp in park.

The campsite and swimming beach are perfect! Restrooms and other amenities are very comfortable and cleaned around the clock. We did not get to canoe but the river looked beautiful.
There were reports of sightings of 1 adult bear and 1 cub that weekend at the campsite and on the path leading to the swimming beach. Make sure you use the bear box provided at each campsite to store food and even toiletries, and that you throw away any trash in the dumpster. You can also store toiletries and other scented products in your car.
We did a short hike in the Ocala National Forest right across the street.
Ice and firewood are available for purchase at the entrance.
In spite of the fact that we were on high alert due to the bear sightings, we had a lovely weekend at this amazing park. Would highly recommend and we will probably be going back next year.

Alexander Springs Campground has several activities to keep everyone happy. We recommend biking on Paisley Woods Bike Trail through the forest,paddleboarding/canoeing/kayaking, and snorkeling in Alexander Springs. The sites are equipped with a grill, firepit, picnic table and bear box. They are spacious and have privacy from fellow campers. The bathrooms are kept clean. Highly recommended this campground!
