We rented a pavilion for the day so we did not have to get to the park so early in the morning. However, only one parking spot was reserved for us. The other people in our party had to get there early to ensure they could get in. It took them 90 minutes to get in after the park opened. Another couple who planned to come didn’t because they didn’t want to wait to get in.

Overall, the park was clean, and we enjoyed our time while we were there. We just didn’t like that with the cost of renting the pavilion that the day use fee wasn’t included (at least for a # of people) and we only had 1 reserved parking space. It defeated the purpose of putting in how many we had in our party when I made the reservation because it didn’t matter.

Ultimately, get there early and don’t pay for the pavilion!!

Alexander Springs is a wonderful place for family camping. The springs and run are amazing. The park is beautiful and superbly maintained. The one thing, however, that is totally out of character is that there's absolutely no recycling. For a National Forest Park to overlook such a basic contribution for environmental protection and sustainability, provides a bad example, especially for children, who visit the park. I hope this changes.

We had a great time at the spring, but received a citation from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission for not having life jackets or whistles in our kayak. We did not know about that rule. We wish there was a sign posted concerning state laws related to kayaking at the kayak launch. We launched our kayaks from the park launch, but didn't see any signs at the launch or instructions on the website concerning state laws. We feel a bit miffed.

We loved it here and definitely coming back.
Campgrounds are not far from each other but so spacious that you feel secluded. There was a big table, BBQ, fire pit and bear box just for us. Everybody was very friendly and helpful. It was quiet and peaceful which is something hard to find now adays.

New management seemed to be all confused in general about anything going on in the park. Had a neighbor blasting music until 3am and never could find a camp host - assumed it was a specific site, but no signage otherwise. Never really saw anyone making rounds - bathrooms were not the cleanest - with a malfunctioning urinal causing lots of smell. Park was clean overall
