Ortona South Campground is praised for its beautiful location, cleanliness, and friendly, helpful staff, creating a peaceful atmosphere for visitors. Many campers enjoy watching the boats and wildlife, with stunning sunrises and sunsets enhancing their experience. While some facilities, such as the bathrooms and fishing pier, could use improvements, the overall ambiance and well-maintained grounds make it a favorite spot for many returning campers.

Nice Army Corps campground. Clean showers and restrooms. Very nice hosts. Cool solar cell charging stations in a couple places in the park.
It was cool to watch the boats go through the locks and BONUS…. The otters in the lake and adjoining stream were so much fun to watch.

Ortona South is a very nice campground on the Caloosahatchee River. You can watch the many types of boats go through the locks. You can fish along the riverbank or by the dam. The campground is very well maintained; bathrooms and showers are spotless. It's in a quiet, country setting and nice to spend time along the river. Definitely worth a visit.

Great campground. One of my top 3 favorites. Both camphost couples are kind, professional, courteous and friendly. Ranger is too.

I always enjoy my camping trips to Ortona & Franklin. I was disappointed, in the lack of progress to repairs of the fishing pier and footbridge. I hope those projects are given some attention soon. I will say that campsites and bathhouses were kept very clean and that the camp hosts were very friendly.
