Ortona South Campground is praised for its beautiful location, cleanliness, and friendly, helpful staff, creating a peaceful atmosphere for visitors. Many campers enjoy watching the boats and wildlife, with stunning sunrises and sunsets enhancing their experience. While some facilities, such as the bathrooms and fishing pier, could use improvements, the overall ambiance and well-maintained grounds make it a favorite spot for many returning campers.

Very well constructed and maintained. Good electric power. 2-3 bars Verizon cell service. Adequate, well-landscaped spaces between sites. Excellent gravel-edged-with-concrete-strips sites. Parking pads are level and concrete. Burning of nearby sugar cane fields might bother those with sensitive sinuses. Quiet. Relaxing. Lots of birds: mockingbirds, warblers, herons, crows, doves, otters, gator. Staff was evident on site often. Bathhouses were modern and well-maintained. Corps of Engineers campgrounds are our favorites and this one is one of the better ones.

Clean, quiet and on or near the river. Really a nice place if you can get in.

Nice, clean, quiet campground. Great place to de-stress while watching boats travel thru a working lock. Bathhouse is long overdue for remodeling, HOWEVER, it was kept very clean. Kudos to the staff. Will absolutely return and recommend.

Large, well kept sites. Quiet. Not kid friendly due to no activities but that's why we enjoy it.

The non-handicap toilet in the west loop has been closed for several days. Today, the holding tanks at the east loop were full, and after pumping them out, there was still sewage backing up in the men's room. There is currently one working toilet for 43 sites for men and 2 for women.
When they were working, the water level in the men's toilets in the east loop was too high. Every time I sat on the toilet, my boys went for a swim.
The problems here are not unique to this campground there seems to be a shortfall in the maintenance in many ACOE campgrounds.

Wonderful campground, very clean, and great hosts. Labelle just down the road has plenty of shopping options and restaurant, coffee shops.

This is a peaceful, interesting, and pretty location. We always enjoy our time here, but we prefer March over January.
