What Guests Are Saying
Ortona South Campground is a well-maintained, clean, and quiet retreat, ideal for those looking to relax in nature. The campground features friendly staff, spacious sites, and beautiful views along the river, making it a favorite among repeat visitors. While the fishing pier is closed and there have been some minor concerns about bugs and bathroom updates, the overall experience is positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.

This is my local "go to place in Florida!" Just need to figure out how to catch some fish. The local bait area is more than a few miles away and Walmart can't keep it on the shelves.

Beautiful, peaceful and scenic location but small and therefore very hard to get a reservation. Would definitely use in the future if available.

This is a clean and very small campground. The lock is fun to watch and the Birds are everywhere.
It is a 30 minute drive to get to town and shop.

The site locations are great, beautiful view of the canal. My only problem was, it stated on the map there were two docks to fish from. There was only one, and to be honest it should be condemned. The pylons were either worn down to nothing or not existent. They also had the locks shut down for viewing due to security issues? This was not disclosed ahead of time.

We travel the country extensively and Ortona Locks South is one of our very favorite campgrounds. It's quiet, clean, friendly and yet not far from good eats if you so desire not to cook at your RV. Camp Hosts are always attentive and grounds are well maintained. Not a bad thing about our little getaway "secret".

Small quiet campground to chill and watch boats go through the lock, The whole process to traverse the state is very cool . One camper wanted to show his political affiliation and thankfully was told to take it down. A public campground is no place to display political paraphernalia.

Quiet and breezy. The sites are well conceived, flat and spacious. My site has shade, although most do not.
