Midway Campground. Meaning "midway" between Miami and Naples. Or Fort Myers. Whatever. It's as far from both crapholes as you can get.

Stay every year in April to come fish. Always a good experience. Most of the Yankees are gone and it's not crowded. Campground host was nice. I had charcoal going in the pit to cook supper and he stopped to inform me of the burn ban. After he saw my buckets of water and that I was paying close attention he didn't make me put it out. Will be back next year.

We stayed 3 nights here. It was great. We brought water & there was electric at the site. We saw the resident alligator daily. We saw monkey faced squirrels which was new to us. I love all the alligators in the area. The camp host was very friendly.

We aways make a stop at Midway whenever in Florida. We are never disappointed. The camp hosts Lola, Pete, Debbie, and Troy do a great job. It rained a bit more this trip but hey they needed the rain to help prevent more wild fires. One storm knocked out power on Rt 41 for miles one afternoon. Some days the campground was full and other days there were only 5-7 of us there. First time we had a Starlink with us. Sure comes in handy out here.

The sites are very nice and lots of privacy. The campground was also pretty empty when we were there making it even more private. There are some hiking trails right from the campground. Where you are in the middle of the Everglades, there is easy access to lots of things in the national park.
