Very nice campground. Lots were above average size for a National Park. The park host was very knowledgeable. The compost toilets were kept clean. The bathrooms were kept clean. There are 3 stalls and 1 shower with hot water in the ladies bathroom. There were several alligators in the lake which was cool to see. Sunrise and sestet were beautiful. It was located reasonably close to Everglades City, a cool small Florida town. Not too far from the Everglades Flamingo section of the park. In early February it was still quite warm during the days and evenings so be prepared for warm evening with no electricity.

Just know that there is no power and some run generators. Great cell service though. Peaceful and the spots are quite roomy.

Excellent area. We stayed at site 4, huge tent only site. Everything is exposed so be prepared. Heavy dew and bring a thermacell ...or two.

We had a blast watching the 3 to 5 gators in the lake. All back in sites. The campground is beautiful, take a walk in the morning mist! Lots of biking (gravel)/ORV trails right from the campground. The campground is 5 miles from the Oasis Visitor Center - a definite must see. The hosts were excellent.

This is a nice place to camp during the cooler months if you’re lucky enough to secure a site with ALL the out of State/Country people who usually book all theses type sites months in advance and have no issue bragging that it’s much cheaper then a commercial campground even if they don’t use them. Most have become experts at booking a day or two at one site and then moving to another doing the same thing over & over again. All of the public campgrounds are booked like this throughout the entire Winter months and almost none of these people are actually camping. They are using the campground as an inexpensive place to park their 40+ rolling box that they roll in, crank up a generator and run it almost non stop from 6am to 10pm. Many of the sites at Monument Lake are very close with neighboring site picnic tables right next to a generator exhaust pipe and most of these people have little to no concern for campers who are actually trying to enjoy the camping experience OUTDOORS as most of them sit inside their excessively large camping unit the majority of their time spent at the campground.
Don’t come here during the Winter expecting an outstanding dark sky experience as there will
Likely be tons of lights beaming from these special friends of ours who are dodging the extreme climates of where they came from.
If you want to battle the summer heat and the rainy season bring plenty of mosquito repellent and I’m sure there will be plenty of sites available but keep in mind you might just have to get use to the constant roar of these generators as the sites DO NOT have electric.

Great location. Close to Everglades and other activities. Host was great. Flat sites some had shade.

I stayed at site#7. When booking, the site map showed only tent camping sites in that area and no other sites from #7 up to the lake but to my surprise, there were several occupied RV pads very close to my site, obstructing the view of the lake.
