We had a blast - a great spot for some primitive camping. The kids really enjoyed the trails and the activities provided by the rangers.

This place has changed. 3 pavilions closed, and the walk from the campground to the river was unnavigable due to lack of maintenance. The boardwalks to the put in were also closed. Also, when some young and exuberant kids came into the park at 1:00 am making lots of noise, playing loud music, and not be considerate or following guidelines I felt I had no choice but to tolerate it. We all left early and only spent one night instead of the two we paid for due to the conditions.

The campgrounds are close to the restrooms and the restrooms were clean at all hours. The only thing that I didn't like is that all the campsites are very farted. I like a little more privacy.

Staying at Juniper was perfect. We tented at site 1 which is a very short distance walk to the main spring. But I recommend also just walking around the campsite, its beautiful had no idea there was a protected beautiful hammock spring in the back to see. The next day we went to Alexander just down the road. I love this area and am grateful it exist in the Ocala National Forest.

My wife and I chose Juniper Springs Recreation Area, completely at random (from the many campgrounds in the vicinity), for our two grandkids' first camping trip, and it was a hit for all of us. We enjoyed it so much at Juniper Springs that it is our #1 choice for all of our camping trips in the future.

The dear flies and no-seeums were really bad until we used bug spray which worked well to protect us.
