Beautiful campground on Lk Allatoona. Large sites, most have easy access (except lower #sites). Many tent sites on water. Nice relaxing camp, w easy walk and bike rides. Close to Hwy 20, shopping.

Site 113 is right next to the water, which was perfect for my family. We had a great view of the lake and easy access with our paddle boards. Trash was an issue. This was our first-time camping at lake Allatoona, but we had been to the lake many times before with just our paddle boards, so we are aware that trash is a lake wide issue. The gates close at 10pm, no one in or out after that time, which is very inconvenient. The main reason for the poor review is that we received very poor treatment by staff/management at Sweetwater campground, in particular a woman named JoAnn. There was a mix-up with our reservation dates, and we did not realize our reservation ended a day earlier than we had thought, no matter we were planning on leaving at the end of the day. This resulted in this woman coming to the campsite, as she should, to let us know we had to be out of there by 11. I tried to explain the mix-up, but she didn't even want to listen, she went straight to threatening me with calling the Park Ranger if we didn't have our stuff off the site within 5 minutes (an impossible task). She also got very upset and spoke harassing, rude words because someone in our group was sitting down in a chair and not actively cleaning up. This person from our group already had his belonging cleaned up and doesn't speak English so they had no idea what words were transpiring between me and JoAnn. I was very calm and polite throughout this whole transaction. The solution to this whole mix-up was to simply book another night in the campsite, which we did. JoAnn did not offer/suggest this solution, nor did she stay to have a conversation about it. At 11:00 exactly this woman called the Park Rangers, they ended up giving me a call letting me know they had been called by JoAnn but they saw we had extended our reservation and informed us we just needed to pick up a new parking pass for our vehicle. In conclusion, this is a beautiful area to camp, but proceed with caution. Beware of JoAnn.

Lovely campground. Site 69 is situated so that the view of the lake is on the left of the camper. Lake is a very short distance from the site.

The camp site was perfect for us. We loved being at the boat ramp. The shower house was close and in walking distance.

Beautiful campground with very nice “living areas”. Most have large level areas with a picnic table and lots of extra space for a tent or whatever you want to put there. Waterfront sites in the lower numbers are especially beautiful.
