We used to love going to Desoto Falls. The camp host MR.and Mrs. Ayers are the best. They work their behinds off there to keep the falls looking great. They carry out and enforce the rules. I’m sorry that my husband and I witnessed a camper and two girls being very rude and loud, barking dogs not on a leash most of the time and a loud generator keeping us awake all night long. It’s sad when these campers cussed Mr.Ayers like a dog and was calling him terriable names. These camp host make Desoto Falls the awesome place that it was .

Great campground right along DeSoto Falls. It provided great access to plenty of hiking in the area. We stayed in the lower loop, but if I visit again I would stay in the back loop, as it is along the stream that goes between the two waterfalls and I'm guessing has a little less road noise than our lower loop spot did.

The camp host were very friendly and helpful. Their knowledge of the area was great.
We were in site 23. It was nice but in desperate need of some gravel.
Someone ran a generator all night a couple of nights.

We've always had a good time at this campground. Campsites are spacious and well-maintained. Many of the sites are also very wooded, giving them a private feel. Take care when selecting your site, if that's important to you. 7 and 9 are both great, with good privacy. There is some road noise at both of those sites from Hwy 19, but it doesn't bother me. Having potable water on site is a great benefit. Toilet and shower facilities are just adequate. Because the campground is relatively small, it never gets too busy or too loud. There are a couple of little hikes with access from the campground. Day-hikers who are not camping have a separate parking area. If I could request one improvement, I would love to see more garbage disposal containers. There is one garbage container located in the day-use parking lot. The proximity to both Dahlonega and Cleveland makes this a great location if you want to venture to town during the day, or need to run out to pick up something you've forgotten. There is a little gas and grocery in Turner's Corner that has great firewood.

Our location (first spot as you enter the campground) was right below a busy road, so we had the noise of trucks braking throughout the first night (a Thursday). There were fewer trucks on the weekend nights, but still, traffic zooming through negated most of the nature sounds. However, if you can get a spot (14, 15, 16, etc) by the creek, you should not be plagued by trucks and their jake brakes.
The campground was clean, restrooms and shower were also pristine, the hosts were helpful, and the sites well set up for some privacy.

Excellent and clean campgrounds. Nice and semi private and spacious sites. My only reason for 4 stars was that a camper was using a really loud generator 1 site away from us. Everything else was great!

We spent 4 nights at the Desoto Falls Campground and enjoyed it immensely. We hikes he trails to the lower falls and upper falls with our dog every morning at daybreak as well as a number of other shorter trails we found throughout the area.
We were extremely impressed with the cleanliness of the campsite when we arrived and the campground hosts, James and Brenda, were constantly working around the entire campground weed eating, blowing off the leaves and doing general maintenance all day long.
We visited other water falls in the area, as well as hiked sections of the Appalachian Trail, hiked Brasstown Bald and Bell Mountain
and hiked trails at Vogel State Park and Lake Winfield Scott.
