The bathhouses are in bad shape, they really need updating. Enjoyed every other aspect of the park

Old Federal was an excellent campground. We stayed in one of the tent sites and it was perfect for me and my four boys. It was close to the lake so we didn't have to go far from our campsite to play in the water and enjoy the area. The best part was that it was so close to home. I will definitely come here again.

This campground is nice but it has issues.
It appears to be run by retirees who are untrained in customer service and have no access to the online reservation system - thus they have very little control. They are unprofessional and defensive about enforcing the rules. For example, one day I moved from one campsite to another campsite. I was forced to remove my car from the premises between check out time and check in time. Apparently this policy could have no exception to accommodate me. They were rude and unprofessional about its enforcement. At one point the wife actually came to my camper and knocked on my door to chastise me for being impolite to her husband.
During my stay I found 3 bath houses on the campground, two of which were operational and only one of which was clean. The bathhouses closest to my campsite was out of order and I was told it had been so for the entire summer. The next closest bathroom had a foul odor of grime mixed with cleaning product. That left the farthest bath house near the tent camping area, which was clean presumably because it received little use. Since the campground is so large, I ended up driving my car when I went to use the bathroom -- a terrible and disruptive waste of resources.
This campground is busy and popular not because of -- but despite -- its amenities and staff.
Finally you're online reservation system causes problems of its own. The fact that the staff are not empowered to make changes in the system this ridiculous.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Old Federal late summer of 2019.
We’d have given it five stars except that the bathhouse we deliberately rented spaces near turned out to be closed for repairs, (we were told it had been closed for several months due to clogged drain lines that would have to be dug up and replaced all the way to the main line), it was quite a walk to the only nearby open bathhouse.
When I saw the showers in that bathhouse I was surprised at how dirty or moldy/mildewed they appeared to be. After buying cleaner with bleach and a scrub brush to clean the one I wanted to use I discovered that what I thought was dirt or mold/mildew was most likely old mold/mildew stain since no amount of scrubbing affected it, but I felt much better using the shower after scrubbing it.
The washing machine and dryer in the bathhouse both worked and were inexpensive to use and there was a nice sized table for folding clothes. They were a bit dusty due to their partially open location but that was easily solved with a quick wipe.
We had a great little beach by our campsites where we tied up our boat the week we were there. The boat gave us access to several great restaurants at marinas like Pelican Pete’s which has a nice restaurant with good service, good food and reasonable prices. We enjoyed the restaurant at Aqualand very much and ate lunch there several times as well as dinner one evening, again great food, service and fair pricing.
All in all it was a great stay in spite of the bathhouse issues and we will stay here again this year. The pricing is a bargain for what you get in comparison to private campgrounds and the campsites are very nice with concrete pads and picnic tables at each camper site.
Most sites have some shade from the many types of trees near them and all the hookups worked well, the group of friends we were camping with had no problems with hook ups either.
We’re all looking forward to our stay at Old Federal this year.

We love camping at Old Federal. We plan to do it again and again. It's close to home for us and our boats are just across the bay at Aqualand Marina.

It was our second camping site. The park was very clean and well kept. Hosts were very helpful. Really enjoyed the water views and trees.
Can't wait to go back again.
