We enjoy Morganton Point very much. The staff are extra nice and assist in any way possible to make our stay pleasant. One issue that I would like to see addressed is the bath/shower on the tent camping side. The main restroom is extra, extra clean and is maintained very well. The other one needs attention! We will be back!

Restrooms were clean, showers were hot, but LOTS of children made it pretty noisy. Water leak at water receptacle required us to keep water turned off except when we were needing water. Our neighbor's water source leaked also, as did several others in the park. Management said they were waiting for a plumber to come, but seemed like these have been leaking for a while. Swimming beach was nice, but muddy at the shoreline. Part of swimming area was posted swimming only, no boats, but a large pontoon boat was parked right at the sign, keeping swimmers from using that area. No one ever came by to tell them to move it, so that just made the swimming area quite congested. The no boat parking should have been enforced, especially on a weekend when there were more visitors. Firewood is $7 for a small bag that will last about 7 minutes, and you are not allowed to bring in your own firewood. Firepits only, no regular bbq grills. Can't say I would go here again.

R. D. is a great host! Our site was peaceful with lots of shade, a short trail to the lake, and beautiful views of the lake and sunsets with the mountains in the distance. Clean sites and showers/restrooms. Thanks for an enjoyable 4 days!

we have camped at Morganton Point literally for fifty years, and this is probably the first time we have seen it seeming to be neglected. Weed eating really needed doing all over. I am not sure if the undergrowth is ever cleared up any, but it was hard to see the lake or sky even form site five or seven, which are usually where the view is great. I am not sure why this year was different. Roads also needed stuff blown off. Did not use restroom, so am not sure about how well kept or not those were.
several barking dogs were also somewhat annoying. Not sure what should have been done about those, but it seemed the owners were leaving them unattended for fairly long stretches of time.

Loved our experience except for the big tree branch falling with a thud on our roof. No damage at all and the camp worker lent us a ladder so we could gat it off the roof. Just something to be aware of when booking a treed site. We picked site 18 as it was close to the showers and restrooms which were very clean. Be aware that the lights in the restrooms are on timers which is a problem especially at night when they go off in the middle of your shower. Bring a flashlight. Would have liked to go swimming but the path down to the beach was way too steep and rocky for our 70 + legs. lol. We’ll be back!

Campers are able to utilize the day use area for free, but if you have a vehicle parked in the day use parking lot then you have to pay the day use fee. You can be dropped off at the day use area and park at your campsite if you like. |
