We have been wanting to camp on Cumberland Island for years and finally got our chance after Christmas. Make sure you book your ferry ride with bikes (if available). Wagons are permitted at Sea Camp so we took our own. It definitely helps with the 0.5 mile walk in. Campsites are spacious and the Dungeness ruins aren't that far away.

My 6th backpack trip to Cumberland Island. What a treasure! It is such a wonderful place. All of the rangers and volunteers are extremely helpful and friendly. I met and made many new friends while I was there.

Incredible time on Cumberland, as always. If visiting in December, bring bug spray and sun protection.

Cumberland Island never disappoints! This was our third stay at Sea Camp, but our first during December. After the first night, the weather was absolutely perfect. We brought our e-bikes over on the ferry and toured the entire island during our 4-day stay. I recommend e-bikes with at least 3" tires if you are going to the north end of the island, since the sand can get a little soft in some places on the main road. Even with 3"-4" tires on an e-bike, it was still quite a ride to the north end and we slept well that night! Speaking of sleeping well - we had some cold weather for the first night, and the park ranger pointed out that there is a "warming room" at the Ice House/Dungeness Dock. We did not need it, but it was nice to know it was there. We will definitely be back out to explore the island again in the near future!

The staff on the mainland and on the island were very helpful. I would love to come back to this amazing place again soon. What I would do differently is pack in my down jacket for the cool evenings and mornings at the campsite, bring my hiking poles, renting one of the wagons to carry over our gear and buy firewood from the mainland.

Cumberland Island never disappoints no matter the season or the weather. I have spent 20 days on the island and these are some of my absolute favorite camping and hiking experiences. The Rangers and the ferry staff are wonderful. When Cumberland Island calls you and calls you back, you have connected with the magic.

Cumberland Island continues to be a wonderful experience for all of my family and friends that join us. This is our 5th time visiting and camping at the Stafford Campground over the years. The park has continued to improve and add features over the years such as adding food boxes to each campsite to prevent wildlife getting it, upgrading fire rings, and testing to ensure the water is potable at the Stafford sites (wasn't this way when we first started coming).
