We stayed 3 nights which allowed enough time to explore the beach, Dungeness ruins, and to ride bikes up to Plum Orchard. Group North is one of the best camp sites with plenty of space for multiple tents, although we only brought one yurt. We recommend folks bring their bikes even if they want to explore just the south side of the island - it makes travel so much faster, though they're not necessary. The bike ride up to Plum Orchard took about 3.5 hours round trip (14 miles on sandy paths) riding with children - you need to be prepared. But we are so glad we did it.

Cumberland is always a wonderful experience. Even when you get harassed and have to call 911 on a Wednesday night. Another camper stepped in to help and the authorities ame and took care of business. Can’t wait to go back.

Absolutely gorgeous location. Pack bug spray, electrolytes and sunscreen. Plenty of carts available to transport gear.

I love Cumberland Island but the low review was for the lack of upkeep of the fire pit at seacamp 13. It needs to be cleaned out and serviced so that it does not hold water. Many of the wagons could also use repair. The lack of a wagon at St. Mary's to take camping gear to the boat is also a disservice to the campers. A lot has changed over the years. The new showers are an appreciated improvement, but many other things have degraded

The Stafford camp site was fantastic! Little did I know that I would have portable water less than 200’ from my tent. The short walk to the beach was nice for sunrise and sunset walks and the cold showers and flush toilets were appreciated. There was a sink on the back side of the restroom building for washing dishes and the campsite included a fire ring, log seating and a large bear proof food storage locker. All of the amenities make camping easy. The Stafford camp site was a great balance between convenience and peace and quiet.

This was probably my 20th time to the Island. My experience, as always, was exceptional. I really appreciated all the new improvements. All the rangers, volunteers, and feery people were and are great.

We camped for a week at sea camp #14, great site. close to bathrooms, beach, lots of room for set up.
Be alert for chiggers. Staying hydrated is no joke. Wonderful walk on parallel trail down to Dungeness.
Coffee on the beach at sunrise to watch shore birds-amazing.

What a magical place! We stayed at Sea Camp, which was very convenient from the ferry, but did require a short hike in. The campground had what felt like a private beach for just the campers. There were some day trippers coming and going, but still very private. Excellent facilities for showers, bathroom etc. (Showers are cold only.) There was an hut in the facility area that had electrical outlets to charge phones or other needs.
