What Guests Are Saying
R. Shaefer Heard campground offers well-maintained, spacious sites with beautiful lake views, ample privacy, and friendly staff, making it a favorite for many visitors. The location is convenient, with easy access to shopping and activities, and the facilities are generally clean. However, some guests noted issues with rude staff on certain days and outdated bathrooms, along with occasional pest problems. Overall, it is regarded as a fantastic place to camp and relax.

Only negative is the sites / park are not patrolled for litter pick up..
We were there on a weekend and a very loud party was happening across the lake which was not addressed.
Sites / park is great... we will be back!!

Wonderful Park. I did experience an issue one evening, It was after 10:00 pm and it took about 20 minutes to get someone to answer the phone and unlock the gate. Perhaps a little bit of automation should be installed to prevent this from happening.

Large but tidy and well kept grounds. Most sites include lake access/view. Large, flat, well spaced sites. Some sites are a bit of a walk to restrooms/showers. Easy overnight from I-85. Very popular on week ends.
