What Guests Are Saying
Amanita campground offers a scenic, lakefront location with abundant wildlife and is easily accessible. Many visitors enjoyed their stay, appreciating its natural setting and proximity to Lake Cascade, along with quiet areas for relaxation. However, concerns were raised about the lack of shade, noise disturbances, and difficulties with site access, particularly for larger trailers, as well as the presence of poison ivy and oak.

Just by West mountain road so cars, boats, 4 wheelers speeding by all day and night. Very noisy. But we had beach access so that made up for it a little.

2nd year at site 9. Just cannot ask for a better camping site. We hope to keep going annually. Camp host amazing at handling our site being occupied when we arrived. Bathrooms incredibly clean.

A tree that was well over 100 feet tall fell on our camp trailer. It did significant damage. Another couple feet over and we may have been killed. It was truly terrifying experience. We will not be returning to that campground!

The campground was lovely. Well-spaced camp sites. The grounds were well-maintained. My daughter noted that the vault toilets even smelled nice. The camp host was very friendly and helpful. We ended up not staying overnight as it was our first trip taking 2 dogs - one a recent rescue with anxiety - and they just could not settle. We told our host that we had decided to return home and to please let other campers know our space was available. He notified a couple who were down the road with no campsite. They were very happy to have the site. We look forward to returning and actually spending a few nights at Amanita.

This is a great little spot right on the lake. Had a lot of fun dodging and dipping under logs while we walked along the beach, sand was pristine, plenty of great spots to sit and watch the sun fade in the evening. If I make it back to the area anytime soon, this is where I’ll stay.

Site didn't have as much shade as I hoped but wasn't bad. The biggest problem is that the parking spot is going the wrong direction for backing a trailer in. I had to go all the way around going the wrong way to back it in. Distance to walk to the lake was good.

We had an excellent visit to Amanita Campground and Lake Cascade. We stayed here for 10-days in late August 2020, 7-days in site #7 and then we extended by three nights in site #8, a first come first served site, since we were enjoying ourselves so much. This is a very small campground, with only 12 campsites, one set of vault toilets and a couple fresh water spigots you could use for filling your water containers. The vault toilets were well stocked during our stay, but my wife said the ladies room could have used some cleaning; which it did not get during our 10-day visit. Some of the campsites are right on the water giving easy access to outstanding perch fishing! In one day, my wife caught (and released) 31 perch, with each one of them between 6 and 10-inches in length. Campsite #7 was right on the water; perfectly level; contained a fire ring, picnic table and a tent pad; but it did not offer much shade, but that worked well for our solar energy collection. Campsite #8 was across the camp road from #7, so it was not on the water, but it offered ample shade from old growth pine trees as well as a picnic table and fire ring. #8 was not quite level, but we were able to make it work. Cell coverage here was strong with ATT boasting a blistering 102 Mbps down and 15.6 Mbps up while Verizon managed a respectable 10 Mbps down and 4.5 Mbps up. We found the weekdays to be much more enjoyable than the the weekends since the population in the campground, on the lake and in neighboring campgrounds just skyrocketed Friday through Sunday. That meant more noise, less privacy and less serenity. Rainbow Point campground is just a few hundred yards to the north and boasts a boat ramp and a shared camp host for both campgrounds. The camp host did not have any firewood for sale during our visit. THANK YOU RECREATION.GOV FOR MAKING THIS CAMPSITE RESERVABLE!! WE NEVER WOULD HAVE FOUND IT, OR DRIVEN 1600 MILES TO VISIT, IF WE COULDN'T HAVE MADE ADVANCE RESERVATIONS!!!

This is a great little campground with nice views of the reservoir. Our only complaint - we had site 007, which is wonderful and looks great on paper. However, it is right next to the restrooms and the smell hit us hard as soon as we got there and stayed with us throughout our stay. It even smelled all to way to the beach, which was certainly gross.

Loved this location. Felt like we were in the woods but with a short walk, we were at the lake with a beautiful shore(basically all to ourselves). It was amazing . I think this will be our spot for coming years .
