What Guests Are Saying
Grayback Campground offers a stunning location with beautiful views, clean facilities, and a peaceful atmosphere, perfect for campers and hikers. Many visitors appreciate the spacious sites, proximity to Idaho City, and well-maintained restrooms. However, some concerns were raised about the water quality and the lack of camp hosts, and tent accommodations could be improved.

We love camping here it’s unfortunate. There’s no camp host anymore.

The area is nice and it is easy to get around on foot. The access road is really narrow. We enjoyed the woods and the camp was quiet. We like to fish, but all the access points we found to the creek were posted. The area information said that campers enjoy fishing Mores Creek, but we could not find where this was possible. Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay.

Spot 5 has a great view of the mountains across the valley. It’s a quiet spot, with neighbors not super close. The water pump is directly across the road, and not too far from. The bathrooms.

Beautiful wooded campground. Good mix of reservable and first come sites. Restrooms are clean. The water, supposedly potable, came out greenish and unusable.

A really nice campsite with lots of space between sites. But it is more or less boondocking, so bring supplies! Water is available via a hand operated pump.

Campground has large pine trees that provide good shade most of the day. Most sites are pretty level, with a few that have some slope. Most sites are easy to back into, but there are several that are backwards, making it hard to position a trailer. The water coming from the pumps was orange-ish, so consider bringing your own water for drinking and cooking.

Nice no amenities campsite near Idaho City. Dump site and water in Idaho City. 34 miles from Boise.

I love grayback because it is quiet and peaceful. There are trails if you like to hike and a small creek if you want to get wet to cool down. Idaho City is only five minutes away if you need any supplies

This campground has a nice location, and was pretty quiet. It’s great for trailers, but was definitely not designed for tent campers. None of the sites have tent pads, and the areas where you can set up a tent are not level at all. We had to set up our tent on the end of the pavement pad which was NOT ideal.
Site 3 has a picnic table built for toddlers. It’s so close to the ground it was perfect for my 4 year old.
Despite all this, the campground itself is great, clean enough toilets, water, and 5 minutes from idaho city. Just wish they had better accommodations for tents.
