What Guests Are Saying
Grayback Campground offers a stunning location with beautiful views, clean facilities, and a peaceful atmosphere, perfect for campers and hikers. Many visitors appreciate the spacious sites, proximity to Idaho City, and well-maintained restrooms. However, some concerns were raised about the water quality and the lack of camp hosts, and tent accommodations could be improved.

Site was accommodating and tucked away (in comparison to other sites). Fire ring area was a little tight and the table is not built for average or tall people (very low), but we made it work. The meadow behind the site was beautiful and the close access to the river was great. Would definitely stay here again!

This is a nicely laid out campground, right above a creek that is fun to explore. It's close enough to Idaho City that you can drive over and explore the shops. However, don't expect the camp host to enforce quiet hours. There were two campsites that were yelling, laughing, playing music, and carrying on until after midnight. For us tent campers, there is no sound dampening or escape from hearing the other campsites, especially when they are being super loud (I don't mean talking to each other, I mean yelling and uproarious laughter).

Pretty campground. No water. Great trails for biking or ATV behind campground.

The campground was full when we were there, but the spots were spread out enough that it didn't feel crowded. The pit toilets were well maintained and clean. We would have liked to have a sink if possible. Visiting Idaho City is convenient and fun. We went down to the Grimes recreation area when the creek at the base was too crowded.

We've always enjoyed Grayack. It is quiet, somewhat primitive and shady. Our only complaint, this year, was the excessive heat, which has nothing to do with the campground or Recreation.gov.

Close to Idaho Springs but also feels remote. Out campground had plenty of shade and felt private
