What Guests Are Saying
Grayback Campground offers a stunning location with beautiful views, clean facilities, and a peaceful atmosphere, perfect for campers and hikers. Many visitors appreciate the spacious sites, proximity to Idaho City, and well-maintained restrooms. However, some concerns were raised about the water quality and the lack of camp hosts, and tent accommodations could be improved.

Great little loop of individual non-electric paved campsites. Far enough from the highway, up a small hill, that you don't hear or see anything. Well maintained grounds and facilities. Awesome base of operations for a trip to Idaho City or Lucky Peak for some boating. I recommend this location. No cell coverage in the area, plan ahead.

Great campground. But bring some water with you. There are water spigots in the campground, but when we were there the water coming out had a very distinct orange tint to it. We asked a forest service ranger about it and she said they test the water and it is "safe" to drink. But it looked gross. We hadn't brought any spare water with us (counting on the water in the campground to be usable), we we drove a couple miles up the highway to the Forest Service Ranger Station where there is a water spigot out front. We filled up our water jugs there with good water.

Beautiful campground only a couple miles from Idaho City. Sits up on a hill above ID 21. Sites are all pretty similar, really. Some pine, but not enough to provide privacy between the sites, though they are pretty well spaced. We stayed in August, with temps approaching 100 degrees during the day in Boise (about a 40-minute drive). Night was pleasant at the campground thanks to the elevation. Quiet, clean, well-maintained restrooms. Would definitely stay again.

Grayback is a nice campground. Not too far from home (Boise) yet nestled in the pines and hills to feel like you've disconnected. Sunsets and sunrises are beautiful through all the trees. Road noise (from ID21) is minimal and sites are not 'zero lot line' - you have space between you and your neighbor camper.

beautiful, large sites. we rented both sites for more privacy, they do share a restroom. bathrooms well maintained. great built in tables and firepits. site a has large flat area for games. only downside was that there was no host and a group set up on the side of the road and were loud until 3am.
