Island Park is beautiful. This campground is very nice. I sure wish there were more spots with electricity so it wouldn't be so hard to get a reservation. We have been coming to this campground for 36 years and it is harder and harder to get a site.

Road off main hwy is full of pot holes, pads are narrow, mosquitos are horrible.

Bathrooms are super clean and camp host was very helpful.

Eddie and Janet are the most incredible camp hosts ever!!! During our stay we moved to three different camp sites because we had two different reservations and decided to stay up there between the two. Each campsite was so clean and nice! They are so friendly yet give up our privacy and let us enjoy our stay! We totally enjoyed the stay.
The road going through the campground needs to be improved! There are tons of potholes!!!

The campground was clean, quiet, and beautiful. We liked having a fire pit, picnic table, and a metal stand on which we could place and use our camp stove. The water spigots worked well and were also clean. I appreciated the signs letting us know how we could also keep the campground clean. The outhouse had an air freshener, and design and materials kept the stinky smells down. The locks worked well. Since we had a tent, I used the restroom to change and brush my teeth, so that worked well. The "poetry" in the restroom spelled out the importance of keeping food, garbage, and other bear attractants locked up and put away. If bears get into your food, coolers, garbage, toiletries, and other things, they may have to be killed. That is what they do to keep people safe.

The Island Park Reservoir is really close, so if you like boating, swimming, and/or fishing that could be very convenient. The Buffalo River borders the campground, so floating, swimming, fishing, bird watching, kayaking, and more would be fund and easy to do here. The Big Springs is not far away and would be fun as a little outing. Many float the river in kayaks or inner tubes near the boat launch there.

We traveled to Yellowstone National Park each day we were camping and enjoyed some of the geyser basins there, mainly the Midway Geyser Basin and the Norris Geyser Basin. We saw buffalo there, as well as cranes, ground squirrels, and dear. We took a hike along the Fairy Falls Trail, which goes to the Grand Prismatic Overlook and the Fairy Falls. There were delays with traffic as everyone slowed down to see the buffalo along the side of the road.
After packing up we traveled to Mesa Falls, which was on our way home. The highway to the falls is scenic and beautiful as the Tetons can be seen in the gap of the trees. Beautiful! Mesa Falls is also impressive and beautiful--so much water, plus a rainbow with the mist that is kicked up.
June was a beautiful time to go. It was cool, almost cold, so be prepar

We had a new camp host this year and he was exceptional! He always came around to check on things, see if we needed anything or any help.
I hope he comes back for next year and we are certainly going to try to come up for a second time later in the summer!

So quiet, only the many bird sounds could be heard through the night from our tents. Elk tracks and sign dotted the campground but they kept out of sight. The vault toilets were clean and maintained. Lovely place to stay for our 4 nights at Yellowstone.
