We were there the week of the 2 tornado warnings. We really appreciated that the local authorities went around the campground both times and told us where to take safe cover. We also enjoyed meeting and learning from the NEIU research team that was there studying the painted turtles during egg laying season. The campground continues to be excellently maintained, including the washrooms. Keep up the good work. We love it there.

Beautiful site, excellent price, thoroughly satisfied. 2 stormy periods when the ranger came thru with his lights flashing and speaker telling us of weather warnings (winds and tornadoes). Excellent service.

We have stayed at several COE parks, Thomson Causeway Recreation Area is one of the nicest. Our site had a great view of the Mississippi River. The site was concrete with asphalt roads throughout the park. It appears that all sites are 50amp with water. You should come to this park with your Black and Gray tanks empty or dump at one of the four dump stations on your way in. There are two restroom shower facilities in the park along with a couple of rustic restrooms. This park is perfect for a scenic walk or bicycling for exercise. There is a paved bicycle trail that goes by the park if you want to go longer distance. We would stay again if in the area.

I'm so happy that the upgrade was made, and water was added to almost every site. I'm hoping that when the Riverbirch loop is worked on this season that water is added to those sites as well.
Otherwise, the Causeway is THE best camping site on the Missy with the best access to the amazing bike trail.

It was the perfect time to be at Thomson Causeway - the weather was perfect and we really enjoyed the eagles, the geese and their babies - all the varied wildlife.

Firewood can be purchased in the campground during the hours of 5 pm to 8 pm nightly for $6 per bundle from the on-site firewood shed. Use the QR code at the firewood shed to pay for firewood using a credit card. No cash or checks are accepted for firewood sales. |
