What Guests Are Saying
Thomson Causeway is praised for its beautiful riverside camping, clean facilities, and friendly staff, making it a favorite among visitors. Campers appreciate the spacious concrete pads, proximity to nature, and stunning sunsets over the Mississippi River. While some concerns were raised about noise from barking dogs and a less-than-friendly host, the overall experience is highly positive, with many planning to return.

Very nice clean campground. Beautiful area bike trail attached right to the park. We’ve never camped here before but we rode through in the summer there were a lot of flies. When we camped mid October we didn’t see any. Lots of trails to walk nice spots overlooking the water. We will definitely go back. But make sure you bring your own meals. Not too many restaurants around. Site we were at only had electric, but they do have a dump station and fresh water.

Firstly let me say that the folks at Recreation.gov/customer support were very friendly and helpful getting my reservation charges corrected prior to my reservation. Camp sites at Thompson Causeway are all level spots some offer more green space than others. Fill your fresh water tank on the way in. There are hydrants throughout the campgrounds but not setup to use as you main connection. Very nice area to walk and or bicycle throughout the park. We will definitely revisit next season.
