What Guests Are Saying
Thomson Causeway is praised for its beautiful riverside camping, clean facilities, and friendly staff, making it a favorite among visitors. Campers appreciate the spacious concrete pads, proximity to nature, and stunning sunsets over the Mississippi River. While some concerns were raised about noise from barking dogs and a less-than-friendly host, the overall experience is highly positive, with many planning to return.

This was my first time at Thomson Causeway camping. Campground was more than what I expected from a government facility. Well laid out, well maintained and clean. Nice they had extra parking for the vehicles overflow. Best camp fire wood I have ever had from a campground shed. Will definitely put this on my list for another visit. Beware of IL state highway 84 though if driving in from the south. Very rough and lots of repairs underway. Hope it gets repaved soon.

All five star, except the reservation systems needs some tuning, found a different campsite, but could not move reservation, ended up double booking to get site i wanted to move to, thus leaving with with one trailer but 2 separate sites. trying to resolve. Site # 60 is a must reserve.

We did not expect to have a flat concrete slab on which to set our pop-up. We discovered the picnic table was not made of wood but of some other man-made material that resembled wood. We figured out it was man-made when our new cooking pot stuck to the table as opposed to not sticking as would happen with a wooden table. I had just accidentally brushed the cooking pot bottom along the table as I was removing it from our camping cooking stove. It appears most of the mark on the bottom of our pot will come off. The table size was very nice and extra large. How smart someone was to design a picnic table with an extension built in for wheel chair accessibility. We found the other tables scattered throughout the park were also wheel chair accessible. Very nice and thoughtful for people who are wheel chair bound so everyone can enjoy the park. The shower building was VERY clean and the water was actually warm but not too hot. I did not shower but the shower stalls looked good. Making the reservation and buying firewood was all very easy. Yes, I would reccommend this Thomson Causeway for a good camping experience!
