What Guests Are Saying
Thomson Causeway is praised for its beautiful riverside camping, clean facilities, and friendly staff, making it a favorite among visitors. Campers appreciate the spacious concrete pads, proximity to nature, and stunning sunsets over the Mississippi River. While some concerns were raised about noise from barking dogs and a less-than-friendly host, the overall experience is highly positive, with many planning to return.

We always love this campground. Everything is clean and well taken care of. This last time was no different than usual, until Thursday rolled around. There were so many campers, RV's, tents, etc, that we almost witnessed a couple of accidents with people trying to back in with very little room to do so. Once Friday came, we were all camping on top of each other, it seemed. We were scheduled to have our site until Monday, but couldn't take the "sardine" feel any more, and the fact that you couldn't drink a cup of coffee while watching the river, without the neighbors, seemingly 10 feet away, staring at you. Kind of ruined the morning quiet and solitude. I understand it's a campground, but, I've never experienced having so many people "living " in such tight circumstances. We left Sunday morning, as early as we could.

`Except the next renter is a bit early and had to leave early to accommodate him in a rush. If they follow the schedules would be nice
Mosquito nets are mandatory. The rain of mosquitoes will kill all the fun without proper gare
Sometimes you may run out of water and you may need 59ft hose to connect to the water supply

This is the 3rd time camping here. The park is always clean, the staff here is welcoming and is pleasant to talk to.
Rest rooms and shower house are clean. I would highly recommend camping here.

This is our new favorite campground! Beautiful scenery, well maintained facilities, lots of wildlife, and plenty of places to walk or ride our bikes. We met many friendly people who were also camping there and just had a wonderful, relaxing time! We also traveled to the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium in Dubuque, Iowa as well as went shopping in historic Galena, IL and toured Ulysses Grants’s home there. Other fun and interesting places we visited include Savanna, IL, Fulton, IL, fishing at Lock and Dam 13, and site seeing in Clinton, Iowa. There are many things to do that are just a short drive away.

We had a great time at Thomson Causeway! We also had a great experience over the phone making the initial reservation. The only critic would be that the water in the women's shower house close to our campsite #39 was barely warm and the water pressure was a little harsh on the skin. Other than that, we loved our stay! Thank you for doing such a great job!
