Fantastic campground! The camp hosts were so nice and helpful. Very close to beach access on the Lake and easy drives to other parts of the park. There is a pizza food truck near the entrance of the campground which was great (cash only but there is an ATM in the adjacent store). Potable water on site to fill your tanks and there were water bottle fill ups in the campground and through the park. No frills bathrooms but the showers were clean with hot water and good pressure.

My primitive tent site was very quiet and peaceful, in spite of a full campground. The ranger who got me set up was extremely friendly and helpful. Her recommendation to eat at the Goblin and Grocer restaurant near the entrance to the campground was spot on.

A clean well kept campground. I enjoyed the privacy of the walk in site.
Close to a beach and an easy drive to West Beach and other places.

Exactly what you look for in a National Park campground. My rating is based on comparing it to other CGs of this type - there are no hookups and the site was only level for a short distance (steepish slopes leading up and down to it). But it was quiet (didn't even hear any generators), well-wooded, and peaceful. The staff at check-in were great - very friendly and helpful. We were opposite the bathhouse, which was well-equipped and clean. The Indiana Dunes NP is all around. The park is fascinating. Walking through woods on sand dunes is a new experience. We ate at Joe and Freddy's just down the road - highly recommended.

Met my sister and her family at Dunewood. Shared a campsite and had plenty of space for 2 tents and 2 vehicles. Bathrooms were above expectations and campsites were spaced out well.

The Handicap accessible site, No.15, on the Mather Loop, while being fully paved, was slanted to one side so much that is was very difficult to get around on. Its close proximity to the shower/toilet building is both a positive and a very annoying negative. From 6am to 10 pm, There is a non stop parade of campers walking by, on paths that are on either side, within 5 to 10 ft of this campsite. So, Keep that in mind if you need ADA compliant accommodations. Also, One of the hosts was a rude and obnoxious "hall Monitor" type that must have been a prison guard at some point and was making sure that every rule was followed exactly and to the minute and second, NO EXCEPTIONS! Judgement and reason were not qualities that were in her personal possession. She seemed to want to do whatever she could to ruin any feeling that you were out and away from regular life and enjoying time with your family out in nature. Perhaps Its my own problem for thinking this way, but going camping means that time is ruled by the sun and the moon and I don't want to use a clock or worry about time until I pack up and leave. 5 Min past 10pm does NOT constitute a gross violation of the rules and my need to operate my wheelchair lift to get into and out my van, is not an affront or challenge to her authority! If you don't want to make any concessions to or for ADA needs people, just don't have us in your campground! This camping experience was hardly any better then camping in a Walmart parking lot and was certainly a lot more expensive. I will never go back there.
