About Hardin Ridge

Hardin Ridge is a 1,200-acre recreational complex located on the shores of Monroe Reservoir in Hooiser National Forest. The complex includes six shady campground loops, two picnic areas with shelters, and two rental cabins. The area offers something for everyone, with activities like camping, picnicking, boat launching, swimming, nature walks, and interpretive programs offered in a forested environment.

No hot water in shower houses. Fire pit not cleaned out.
Pros--- able to cut up wood that has already fallen. Beautiful beach! Lots of wildlife :)

Wonderful campground with clean facilities. Site 143 is somewhat secluded from nearby sites, but some traffic can be expected due to the small pond next to the site. Overall, a great site and location.

I stayed on the South Point loop during the 2024 eclipse and despite the crowds and erratic weather, the campground ran smoothly. They had enough staff to manage the traffic into the park and every facility I used was clean and operational. Security made frequent rounds and were highly visible. Signage was clear and the roads were either paved or easily managed gravel. The trails around the campground were well-marked and maintained. Sites were well spaced; despite the campground being at capacity, we weren't imposed upon at all. Our site was spacious and overlooked a large valley, we had a whole nature experience in the middle of a sea of people. I'll be going back.

This was an amazing place to see a total eclipse! Camp hosts were very friendly and welcoming. Facilities and campgrounds were clean and quiet. It never felt crowded even though the place was full.
