West Overlook Campground

We spent one night at West Overlook Campground. Our site overlooked the lake and we had a great time watching the boats on the water. The campground is great and would stay there again.

The campground was clean and the staff friendly. Quiet hours were observed and the lake was lovely. The tent spots were flat and the activities that were available were great. So, in general, the experience was great. I only have three small potential areas of improvement. First, the non-pit-toilet bathrooms are far away from many of the campsites which makes nighttime bathroom excursions a chore for tent campers with small children. Second, the pit toilets that were closer to the campsites were extremely dirty and pretty disgusting (and I am pretty tolerant of pit toilets). Finally, there was goose poop everywhere. I realize there might not be much anyone can do about the goose poop, but I just thought someone ought to be aware of it.

Very clean. Bathrooms nearby. Showers available too. Electric at sites. Nearby water source if needed. Overall, very pleasant experience

I had a job working the Iowa State Boy's Baseball Tournament in Iowa City. Rather than staying in a hotel near the stadium, I chose to stay at the campground. It was a good choice since coworkers reported that the hotel was filled with noisy ball players and they did not get much rest. The campground was quiet and peaceful. The shower was and restrooms were convenient and clean. Did not have a chance to use the beach, but it looked nice.

Wow! Very nice and such a pleasant surprise. Very clean. Excellent experience. Was only there 2 nights but wish I could have stayed longer.

Beautiful place! The staff was so accommodating with last minute reservations and to extend the stay on a holiday week.
