West Overlook Campground

Our site was a disaster, obviously there has been work done in the area of my site so there was very little grass and a whole lot of dirt and then when it warmed a whole lot of mud that washed over the whole site. Over all a dissatisfying experience

Good location, beautiful view for looking sunset; very clean bathroom with hot water shower.

We have been to West Overlook often and were very disappointed in the new bathroom/shower facilities. There were piles of dirt and mud surrounding them, muddy floors inside, and the floor drains did not work, so water flooded the entire 8x8 room while showering. There’s also a very small area to put belongings, so there’s not enough room to sit to dress while keeping things off the flooded floor. In the campground , there have been very little NEEDED improvements (the shower houses were NOT needed). Many campsites need new rock (ours was a mud hole), dead trees need to be taken down (there was one by our site that could have fallen in the storm), sites that were updated last year or earlier have not been reseeded, and electric boxes don’t work (our neighbors needed to plug in to another site’s box).
We also noticed the lack of staff monitoring excessive dog-barking. Years ago we were reprimanded for our radio…now they let much more noise slide.

Thorns and poison ivy right off our gravel pad. Blaring Mexican music down on the beach didn’t help our experience either

Love the new shower houses. Great for families. Fishing off the boat ramp and to the left of the dock by the rocks was good too.

Great place to stay! Very clean bathrooms, great sites. Several sites with 50AMP and water hookups was nice! Staff very friendly.

The campground had lost power to our section but was extremely helpful to let us know in advance and give options. We opted to stay using our own power and had a wonderful weekend. New bath houses are great - only thought is if there’s a way to limit shower spray and still keep the accessibility. Shower water did go into the sink and toilet areas as it is now, which made it harder to change, etc with a wet floor.

We love to camp at West Overlook and try out different sites. The beach and walking trails nearby are great!
