What Guests Are Saying
Howell Station is a highly praised campground known for its spacious, clean sites and beautiful natural surroundings, making it a favorite for families. Campers enjoy the quiet atmosphere, friendly staff, and numerous recreational opportunities, including biking and wildlife watching. Some minor improvements are suggested, like better Wi-Fi and complete hookups, but overall, visitors have had great experiences and plan to return.

Sites were nice with plenty of room. Bathrooms were clean. the location worked well for our visit to the area and was easy to get to. The pad was level and made setting up easy.

The administration of the ARmy Corps of Engineers has made it so hard to register for a camping spot (if one simply makes a mistake on the dates of arrival and during) that I don't know if I'll EVER make another reservation at Recreation.gov!!! They've put into place an asinine rule that if you make a mistake and immediately call them, they won't even help you for 10 days - this is pure BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!

Staff were very helpful, personable and very pleasant to talk to. The site we had was awesome!!!!!! It was right on the River. Felt like we had our own lake front property. The sites are huge, and very quiet. Loved watching the eagles and pelicans. It was very close to Pella and easy drive. It was worth the 4 hour drive for the weekend to go to the tulip festival. It has become my favorite camping spot. Will for sure be back.

The only thing I can complain about is cell phone service. Howell station is the only campground I don’t have very good service. We stayed for 2 weeks. We do a lot on our phones such as pay bills, schedule more camping, video chat with my daughter every day. These tasks and many other were impossible to do. Very frustrating.

The campground was beautiful! So clean and well kept, bathrooms super clean, fire pits useable and clean! The staff was all super kind and friendly! I locked my keys in my camper and the host was so helpful with getting me someone to help me! Anxious to book again!

The camp sites are level and most have lots of space. Pella is a quaint town with lots to see and great shops. We always make a trip to the bakery!
