What Guests Are Saying
Riverside East is a beautiful and peaceful campground with clean sites and ample space between them, making it ideal for families and recreational activities. While the bathrooms are outdated and occasionally not well-maintained, the overall atmosphere is quiet and secluded, with easy access to the river. Some campers reported issues with access and certain amenities, but many enjoyed their stay and appreciated the natural surroundings.

The location was nice, a little sunny on a hot day. The sound of the roaring water coming from the dam was relaxing. The one problem we had was that the 30 amp breaker kept getting thrown when the microwave and the AC were running together - someone needs to check the breaker.

The campground is ok,but nothing special. We liked that there were only a few other campers, so we had lots of privacy. Many sites are close together, so if the campground were busy there would be little privacy.

Only complaint was the bathrooms. Though a schedule was posted on the wall indicating that the restrooms were cleaned Mon, Wed, Fri and Saturday they were not. I realize it was the end of the season, but I still had to pay to camp and had to abide by the rules. Why then weren't the cleaners monitored to make sure they were providing the service they were being paid for by USACE. Unfortunately the host was there so seldom I was never able to ask why the facilities weren't being maintained.
LOVE your parks!

Bathroom cleaner did not clean any bathrooms Sunday, Monday, Tuesday. After the weekend they were filthy. Road down to and especially out of site 34 needed gravel. It was a slippery mess during wet weather and a dust bowl when dry. Site 34 needed gravel. Use washed gravel!!! No dust and no tracking fines into RV. One walked in water holes when getting in and out of RV. Also mud covered concrete floor of site pavilion. Pavilion drained rain water onto parking area where one had to walk. Pavilion should have drained to lawn not parking site. Corp put in electricity so you could use a hair dryer or razor but not one light so one could see after sundown Skip the outlet...put in lights.

One of my favorite campgrounds, most sites have covered picnic tables, new style clean restrooms and enough distance between campsites that you don't feel crowded.

always love coming here. we had campsite's 40 and 42 reserved. campsite #42 is completely missing a roof over the concrete slab/picnic table area. we chose to go with campsite's 40 and 41 instead. each of these concrete slab/picnic table roof sections were about to fail as well. extreme wood rot all around. the nearby vault toilet is fairly new. they need move the task of replacing concrete slab/picnic table area rooves up on their to-do list.

Very light traffic area with campsites that had ample space between each site. The outlet water gates provide a background noise that provide "white noise" for sleeping if you are not too close to the dam.
The grounds were well-kept and we really liked the overhead cover for each picnic table....that was a big plus. Lots of bird activity with the running water of the Neosho River.
The campground was well monitored by the Park Rangers and the experience was very comfortable....I would recommend this site to those who are seeking a get-away from action. Take a drive to Riverside East prior to booking so you can choose a site for your needs.
