Card Creek

The campground itself was really nice. It was quiet. It was clean. The facilities were in good working order. It wasn't very busy being "off season" and all. We stayed in campsite 3. Electric worked (30 amp) great. The water pump did not provide water, but I had filled my clean tank in preparation for that possibility. It was close to the water. Not much shade. The thing to be aware of at this site though is you are right by the boat dock for public access. Several guys (5 boats) showed up at 3:30 am. One boater showed up at 2:30 am. I get it, I've been fishing early too, however it doesn't improve the camping experience. Additionally, this site in particular has a gravel drive through directly on both sides of it for public access to the river. Several fisherman showed up there and fished right by our site. Again, that's cool with me, I can appreciate having public access to our lands, but I didn't like camping by it. Lastly, several cars (4) slow rolled through this little turnaround at all hours of the night and did not fish. They just drove by, in this case, directly by our campsite. We will come back to this campground for sure, but I will not stay at campsite 1,2, or 3.

CARD CREEK at Elk City Lake is always a good place for camping. We like that it is not on the main part of the lake. The new electric and water sites are great. It is less crowded than the other lake campsites. It has a nice playground and good restrooms.

This site shows our camping spot had electric and water hookups. It only had electric. There was a water spigot almost 100' away. We bought more hose, so we didn't have to move the camper. We notified the camp host. He said he would check on it. Our site was very sloped, so the front was an inch or 2 from it's lowest position. It was level side to side. Most sites do not have shade, but a lot of trees have been planted. The nearby trail was beautiful. The trail map shows a loop at the end that brings you back, so you don't have to turn around and take the same path. The path disappeared and I couldn't find any markings. I cut over to the nearby road to the campground, so I didn't have to follow the same path back. The firepit and the grill were both full of ashes. We had to clean both out before we could use them.

There is one bathroom with a flush toilet/urinal/sink and a separate shower area with a large changing area. It was clean and always stocked with TP. There's a nice playground nearby. There is a pit toilet at the other end of the campground, but I did not check out that one. The road to the campground is blacktop. The campsites are gravel. We would stay here again, but would stay at a campsite with electric AND water hookups. Call to check on hookups because several sites show electric and water hookups, but only have electric.

Tree's exiting the park need trimmed back, if you have anything taller than your truck cab its going to drag on your roof and scratch the sides of your camper and the tree at the dump station is the same!!!

This site had a nice concrete slab and picnic table. There is little grass at this site. It is mostly rough ground but has some nice shade over to the side. There is no shade over the picnic table. We used an awning. Pretty view of the creek. It is near the vault toilet. The showers are at the other end of the campground.
